He performs better when he is given more responsibility. He is a regular starter, age is on his side and has been a mainstay of our club. I don't see a better candidate. A new player coming in cannot be a captain when he himself has to acclimatise himself.

I think you can and your comment is part of a wider problem that suggests the captain should be at the club for a while or the longest serving player or whatever. Rambo is not a leader, he would be just another token Arsenal captain and that does not help the team. The captain's role on the continent is different to in the UK. In England the captain needs to lead, needs to lift heads when they go down, needs to discipline players not making an effort, needs to fire them up and get them ready for battle. He needs to lead by example, he needs to be strong enough to carry the club and be dignified with it. For me thats the captain's role.

Make Ramsey a vice captain by all means but he is not a leader. I don't see a problem making a new player captain if he is a true leader.
