The vitriol Ramsey and Wilshere get is over the top.

I’m not a massive fan, but they are both decent/good midfielders who once held the promise of greatness but ultimately failed to reach that high level. And yes, injuries are a problem.

Reflect on this though: once Ozil leaves in the summer, Ramsey and Wilshere will arguably be our two best midfielders. That is a striking indicator of where we are.

Mind, Ramsey is out of contract in 2019. With our record of managing player contracts, he will probably be off to Everton for £5 mil next January and we will be playing some kid from the academy instead.

Welcome to the New Arsenal.

You don’t need over the top big names in midfield. You need midfielders that suit a given manager’s style. Sign competent players that fit your style. We have had so called big names (Ozil and Sanchez) but look where we are? Finished outside the top 4 last season for the first time in 18 years. This season is looking even worse. The Cesc era that had no so called big names had a defined way of playing that was fluid. There was that cohesion.

So lets try every midfield combination we can and lets see what works and doesn’t.

I hope you are right, because we are going to get plenty of time to put this theory to the test, seeing as no big name will be joining our midfield any time soon.

Thats what competent managers do. They try different combinations and formations here and there to see what they can get out of it. I am not the biggest Ramsey, Elneny or Xhaka fan but because that’s what we currently have then lets make use of them. Try different combinations and then we can have a clue where to strengthen in the summer. You can even try the likes of AMN in midfield here and there and see how we get on etc..

We laughed when liverpool signed Mane, Salah, The Ox for the amount they did labelling them average. But look at them right now, they suit the system and style Klopp is comfortable with.

The Invincibles and Cesc era suited wengers vision and style for that moment. But since then I don’t know what style of football we are playing to this day. It is not defined. The drop in technical ability is glaring.

Assists since 13/14

Ozil 48
Eriksen 44
Silva 42
Fabregas 41
De Bruyne 37
Coutinho 30
Rooney 28
Ramsey 28
Lukaku 27
Sigurdsson 27

But yeah let's all pretend that Ramseys not influential to our play, just imagine how much better those stats would look if Ramsey stayed fit more often or if he had the type of forwards the likes of Hazard, Willian, Dembele, Toure, Herrera etc have played alongside these past few years, it's funny because none of them are nowhere to be seen on this list and no I'm not claiming Ramsey is better than all of them but the fact the he has provided better numbers for us than those players have for their teams in recent years shows just how important he is to the side.

when on song hes up there with ozil and alexis as an influencer

problem is he cant get a consistent run in the side and we've failed to find a solution for him in midfield. hasn't flourished since partnering arteta/flamini then RW with santi & coq in midfield

gonna be interesting to try and fit auba, lacazette, ozil, mikhitaryan and ramsey in the same team. could end up what city doing with 1 sole midfielder and hoping were camped so far up in their half that it means easy recoveries for the defence

To think all three of them could've been playing for us if Wenger wasn't an artard.

Well Ramsey would've been on the bench watching the magic of Fabregas and Ozil like I always dreamed of.

Could use the welshy in defensive away games.
