This.

220-250k would've been fine.

Agreed. I really don't think Ozil had any intention of leaving the club. He really seems to have a timid personality and has a comfortable situation at Arsenal.

We should hire his agent to negotiate transfers for us tbh. Guy knows how to get a good deal.

Ramsey 200k pw?

Isn't that more than he'd get elsewhere? I don't see any club in England offering him more than £150k.

Why are we offering these amounts? if its Auba or whatever I get it, but Ramsey is replaceable imo.

I agree but you have to consider that transfer fee inflation, especially for HG players, has an impact on wages when they renew. He's worth about 40M is this shitshow of a market and he wants his slice of that, on top of his normal wages. Players know how much the club is saving by them not having to pay a transfer fee

200K a week for our best player is nothing when you consider our third player Ozil is on 300K a week which pits him I the top 10 highest paid bel players atm

Ozil's £300k a week isn't the problem.

Say, we let Ozil go on free transfer this summer. We'd still be getting Mkhi in exchange for Alexis and we'd have bought Aubameyang too.

That would mean two new, in-coming players would be earning £180k a week (Mkhi) and £200k a week (Auba).

Ramsey would have still demanded £180-200k a week.

Ozil's wages isn't the factor here.

Having said that, if Ramsey wants to stay, I believe we will agree on a deal of around £160k a week, which for me is still overpaying.

We really can't afford to pay Wilshere £100k a week if we're paying Ramsey in excess of £140k a week. That would mean our CM options are limited to Ramsey and... Errrr. Our DMs would be Xhaka (DLP), Elneny (more B2B than DM), and Maitland-Niles.

Ideally, we should let Wilshere go and buy a top-class CM to compete with Ramsey.

We could try Mkhitaryan as a CM, which Wenger alluded to. Either way, we need a top class CM. If we re-sign Wilshere or invest a huge chunk of wages on Ramsey, we'd be fielding a midfield with no CM when Ramsey picks up his inevitable mid-season injury.

Lazio are looking at Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey as a replacement for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Serie A side are preparing to lose Milinkovic-Savic, who could be set for a big-money move to Manchester United or Real Madrid.

With Ramsey out of contract next summer, Lazio will test Arsenal's resolve to hold on to the 27-year-old Wales international.

Head coach wants to build the team around him. Therefore, have to pay him big.

Ramsey makes things happen. If you put Xhaka and Torreira behind him he could be a force.

Its more how he is in the norm that makes me so-so on him.
