Real Madrid are interested in signing Arsenal's 30-year-old Gabon forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - but only if they fail to sign Norway's Erling Braut Haaland, 19, from Borussia Dortmund or 27-year-old Senegal international Sadio Mane from Liverpool. (Express)

If he finishes the remaining games in the league and plays for us for one more season, I'm confident he can break 100 goals. It would be a shame if he left before reaching that milestone.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 30, and Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, 24, are among the players giving clubs a headache over contract extensions after the transfer window was pushed back. (Telegraph)

Gabon Football president hasn't much to do these days, hence butting into AFC matters. Long way to go before normal football is restored. Really a non issue right now.

I wonder why he didn't play for France, his country of birth, he'd definitely get in that team, even if its on the bench and he would have won big things.

I get his dad is African, but Henry's family was from the west indys and Vieira was from Senegal.

Koulibaly was born in France also, it must have been because they didn't peak until later and didn't think they would have a chance.

that will be why

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed that a desire to follow in the footsteps of his father convinced him to declare for the Gabon national team over France and Spain.

Arsenal striker Aubameyang was born in Laval, France, to a Spanish mother.

However he rejected the lure of both those sides, as well as the Italy Under-19 team, to eventually play for Gabon having already made his debut for the France Under-21 side.

Had he declared for any of those three countries he could have been a regular at international tournaments, whilst Gabon have never featured at a World Cup and have made it out of the group stages at the Africa Cup of Nations only once during Aubameyang’s playing career.

The chance to follow in the footsteps of his father Pierre, currently employed as a scout by AC Milan but a former captain of the national team with 80 caps for The Panthers, convinced Aubameyang that Gabon was the country to play for.

“I was very young when I decided,” he told the Arsenal website. “Players often take their time to consider their options and make the right choice, but for me the choice was clear.

“I wanted to follow in my father's footsteps. He was captain of the national side in the past.

I reckon he was talked into it.

I wish this guy would GTFO of our club. Had enough of transfer sagas and players holding out.
Show him the door.
No matter how bad it gets, at least we don't have to put up with Wenger anymore

There's no current replacement for this guy, and he scores about 45% of the goals that keeps us in PL ( with the gazellon stupid goals we have been conceding since Emery joined) . So unless someone is an idiot or Spud or has an anti AFC agenda, shouldn't ever think of jettisoning Auba in his/ her nightmare.

That's what we said when Henry went, when RVP went, when Sanchez went.

Someone else will always step up when the main guy goes, it happens at every club to think just because Auba scores 45% of our goals that no one else will make up the short fall even as a collective is fkin stupid.

I'd love him to stay but you can't keep a guy who has a year left on his contract and is def going regardless, in 12 months time it won't be even up to us so better start to live with it because its happening.

Also Auba has a history of being disruptive if not getting his own way, we would be better off selling and moving on

Our total points per season and ranking steadily fell every time we lost a player like Henry, RVP, Sanchez and didn’t replace them. We went from top two, to top four, to top six, to top ten.

That wasn't just due to one player though, that was an all round failure of Wenger to keep targeting bargain basement type players across the board.

When we had Henry we also had Vieria, Bergkamp, Pires, the list goes on.

As the years went on through the strikers you named, Wenger's low brow policy continued and so did the dip in our team as a whole.

None of this however changes the fact that Auba IS going, he wants to go, he's made up his mind he's going so all of this "Should we, shall we" discussion is moot.
