We should have sold him in January if he refused to extend his contract.
We'll now get less money for him.
Same for Laca.
I thought we got our Arsenal back - but we got Emery

That might be true, but better to get rid of an aging player that wants to leave and invest in youth. We've been down this road twice recently. You want to do it again?!

Sell the guy who's scored half our goals this season?

Here’s the three step plan.
1. Sell Laca to AM for 45 mil
2. Give that 45 mil to Auba for a three year deal
3. Play Auba through the middle and Martinelli on the left

Done.

Give him what he wants. It took us years to replace RVP's goals and we might end up in the same situation again.

Yes.
We can't have him leave on a free transfer. He's had enough time to sign a new deal.
When he goes other players will score the goals.

No, it didn't take us years to replace RVP's goals.

The year after RVP we scored 72 goals.
That was only 2 less than his last season with us.
The same number of goals as the season before that.

When Auba leaves we'll be scoring around the same amount of goals.

Ozil is a 'huge problem' in Auba Arsenal contract negotiations
Paul Merson claims Mesut Ozil represents a “huge problem” for Arsenal when it comes to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future.
Mikel Arteta considers keeping the Gunners’ striking talisman the top priority at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gabon international’s future is set to run out in the summer of 2021, leading to consistent transfer speculation linking him with a move away.
Merson admits it would be “a disaster” for Arsenal to lose the services of their current captain, claiming the lucrative deal Ozil is on complicating matters.
Merson told Sky Sports: “It would be a major disaster for Arsenal if they lost Aubameyang, however, the decision will be weighed up and at least it will be the club’s decision as to what they do.
“Do they give him £300,000-a-week? I’ve always said they will have a problem until Mesut Ozil leaves the club. Every day he’s there, every other top player will want what he’s on. It’s a huge problem and not a new one.
“If they want to keep Aubameyang they will have to pay him big money, but Arsenal may look at it and think if we give him £300,000-a-week for the next two or three years, is he going to be the same player? He’s nearly 31 and by the time he’s 34 he’s not going to be the same player. I don’t care who you are, at 34 you are not the same player.
OPINION: The five best tacticians of the Premier League season
“Arsenal may also weigh it up asking if they will win the Premier League or get into the top four in the next few years if they pay Aubameyang £300,000-a-week. They haven’t actually done it yet with him there, so they may look at it and say it is good business to let him go.
“There’s also the danger of giving him big money, just like they did with Ozil, and then every other player wanting the same. It would take you straight back to the Ozil scenario and if you do spend all that money on him and you don’t get into the top four it’s not money well spent.
“It’s a really hard decision and it will all come down to how the club weigh it up.”

No, you keep Auba AND augment with youth. If you have not noticed our track record with youth has not been great, we cannot put all of our eggs in that basket.

Yup, love him or hate him, Ozil's contract is an albatross around our neck.

Why is this a problem for us? Don’t all big clubs have this same problem? Don’t City have to pay Aguero and KdB top dollar to retain them? I understand both are above 300k pounds per week.
Liverpool must have to pay Salah, Firmino, Mane and VdV top dollar to keep them.

The link below shows are salaries. There is Ozil out there on his own, and then Auba, Laca and Pepe. Given that we have some really talent young strikers, why can’t we cut Laka from the wage bill.

For some!!
Somewhere along AW 21 years many Arsenal fans were brain washed into thinking pretty football even when losing was great as long as you got into a tournament and got a prize for attendance
