Probably because Laca scored every pen he ever took for us. Auba missed 2 in 2 weeks.

Laca or AMN should be penalty takers - not Aubameyang.
Was discussing that with people around me at the game BEFORE the pen was taken. There was more hope than confidence when Aubameyang stepped up to take it.
As far as Aubameyang goes, he's working hard and he did again today so fair play to him.
He is not the player he was, he's a yard slower and that makes all the difference. He's only scored 4 in the PL this year so he's on course for a fairly mediocre 10-15 goals this season. Still, if he continues to put the running in for the team he's useful this year.

Aubameyang gives the perfect response when asked by a reporter what he thinks about spuds getting Conte:

"I’ll be honest, I really don’t care."

Its almost as if Jay has gone through some "reprogramming", much like the dude in the film Clockwork Orange to make him less violent, Jay went through the same with Arsenal/Arteta/Auba :rofll:

He's working hard - that's it.
As long as he does that, I am happy.
I'd like him to score more PL goals still. He is still only at a rate of a goal every 192 minutes - better than last year but not good enough.
Still, he's getting chances to score more because of his work rate.
As always I react to what is happening. I am not going to get stuck on an assessment of a player or a manager and stay there regardless of how they are doing.

Saliba aside of course.

In what way? Saliba has had a mixed year so far - some good games and some really poor ones.
Overall 6/10.
I hope he does better and builds some consistency over the season so we can either sell or give him a chance in the PL.

Best response ever. What did the reporter expect? that he was going to go down the route, 'I wish he was at Arsenal instead of Arteta'.

Once again can't really fault his effort, but he really needs to start scoring PL goals.
That's just 4 now in 884 minutes of PL football.
A goal every 221 minutes or so is a 10-15 goal striker.

Thankfully he only has 18 months left on his deal. He'll be 33 in 6 months time so he is also ageing tbf, which could explain why he's slowed down.

Nevertheless we really need to start thinking about our strikers as they are all either ageing or have contracts that are expiring.

There are three other strikers in the team. We don't score more when he's not playing. That comes down to chance creation, which has been in the toilet for a while.

I'd love a couple of Santi's in the team.

I genuinely thought that was why we signed Odegaard. A creative CM that would link up well with a #10 like in the 2013-2016 era with Caz and Ozil.

It seems absurd to think our chance creation is poor when we have ESR, Saka and Odegaard at our disposal. More evidence that the manager is getting it all wrong

Our worst player today.
His worst performance of the season and that missed chance was a joke.
Disappointing he hasn’t kicked on.
Scoring record in the PL is pants again this year.

He's playing a role he's not suited for.

He should be playing the same position Mane does or in a front two as a LF.

As a target CF he's getting crowded out, he's not Lukaku or Giroud.
