Arsenal in general have had a big game issue for the last two years, I don’t think it’s a personnel issue

We’re steadily fixing it and Liverpool was a huge stride towards it. I have no doubts he’ll bag a couple against Some big rivals this season, simply too good not to

Because he didn't score against Sporting he's not a world class striker?

I mean we can use similar stats against literally any player in history.

Cristiano Ronaldo vs top international sides (as of Mar 27, 2018):

    vs Italy
      → 135 minutes, 0 goals
    vs Spain
      → 340 minutes, 0 goals
    vs England
      → 285 minutes, 0 goals
    vs Germany
      → 360 minutes, 0 goals
    vs Brazil
      → 242 minutes, 0 goals

That's 1362 minutes against abovementioned countries without scoring a single goal.

Or is he not world class either? :frogwink:

If you expect from a world class striker to bang goals only against at best mid table sides you are correct....

Where do you get these outrageous accusations from ? All you have to do is look at the teams he has regularly scored against since he joined Dortmund to see you're chatting rubbish. I'll help you, he has banged in bare goals against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich !

If we had a proper winger Auba would be even more prolific.

Scored two league goals in 9 matches against Bayern and two in four Cup matches. If you include the german Supercup it's 6in17.
1in7 against PSG
0in8 against Marseille
1in6 against Lyon
1in6 against Lille (it's not even a top team)
0in2 against Porto
0in2 against Juve

His great scoring record against RM is an anomaly 5in6 (never scored in the knock out stages against them 0in2).

So who is talking rubbish? :rofll:

Dynamite, you said he scored against mid-table sides, your own stats show he scored regularly against Bayern Munich, the best team in Germany and arguably the joint best team in Europe over the past 5 seasons and Real Madrid, the best team in Europe over the past decade.

So yeah, talking rubbish.

Yeah Auba needs to be benched if he's going to put in down trodden displays like that.

Got his chance to go up top and didn't make the most of it, at least when Laca's poor he puts in a shift pressing wise.

He's one of the leagues top scorers, not sure why's so down lately.

I agree that laca can at least try and work hard when not having a good game, auba worries me though but he should not be on the wide

He's a poacher. It's normal for him to have bad games but the difference is usually he scores that tap in and it doesn't matter.

I liked him and Laca in the 4312 today and think we should try it again

Leno

Bellerin Mustafi Papa Monreal

Ramsey Torreira Guendouzi

Ozil

Laca Auba

We don't play with width anyway so this is the way to go

Nice to see people are finally figuring out we should give 4-3-1-2 a chance.

It's a sophisticated formation that requires a lot of discipline and a huge engine from your 3 central midfielders, but we have the personnel in Ramsey, Torreira and Guendouzi.

Even your strikers will have to track back regularly or you will end up getting overrun.

What helps is that Auba/Özil/Laca can share the defensive work load.

Full backs provide much-needed width with midfielders giving cover which we are already doing now.

Torreira having over a 100 games experience in this particular formation is another plus.
