I can't even express how important that 3rd goal is to our season.

Its Europa or bust, it will effect us all through next year if we go out.

I don’t think it’s Europa or bust, it’s probably our only way to get in the CL but qualifying for EL again through the league is still very attainable.

Had we lost it would’ve been awful though, just the pure shit we’d have to deal with all week.

The movement is so subtle and it's not as if Auba has much space to run into or it's an obvious ball to play. He's hanging off the shoulder of the defender and Saka picks out the perfect pass. Seen a pic of that other goal ruled out for offside and it wasn't offside. Should have been a hat trick.

If those passes aren't played and we don't score, without
a doubt, Auba would have been slated and accused of not showing for the ball, showing no effort...etc. It's a misunderstanding of his game and this is what I mean about him being a 9 striker that needs service. There will be days where he'll play the same way, make similar movements but won't get the ball because teams will stop the supply.

He seems to be playing better, I want to see him and Laca start more games together and play closer to each other. He doesn't score that second goal if Laca isn't on the pitch.

He was much better. A very noticeable difference in his running off the ball to find space - getting back to his key strength.
Was good to see.
When he plays like that he has to be praised.
I like to watch strikers - as best as possible when not at the ground - and what they do off the ball. Auba's movement was excellent all game.
If he continues in that vein until the end of the season it will really help the team. It will also help the development of our young creative players as they will have something to work with - which has been lacking this season.

This is true - The only part of Auba's body that was past the last defender was his arm.
It was onside and a lousy VAR call.

A 3-4-1-2 or 4-4-2 diamond would be my preference if we were to play a two striker system.

Telling that even in his worst season for years he has 13 goals in 26, a goal every other game. Still an elite player.

Yep, slowly turning into a decent return but needs to keep it up. Lack of energy was more bothering than the goals but better vs Leeds and Benfica...hope we see it more regularly :)

Recently passed Alexis Sanchez' goals total, with 31 fewer appearances and ~3000 fewer minutes.

Goes without saying that Alexis played in a much stronger team with Cazorla, peak Ozil, Ramsey and Giroud. I'm mentioning Giroud because he created a bunch of assists with his hold-up play and flicks inside the box.

Alexis is also known for his never-say-die attitude, while PEA gets flack for seeming lazy and disinterested occasionally. The numbers tell a different story. What little we have to celebrate (FA Cup, progress in EL) wouldn't be there without his efforts.

Criminally underrated.

Best striker since Henry. Best captain since Vieira. 2 invincible legends.

Lucky to have him
