Everyone is expecting him to cut in on his right foot and go for the far post finish. Good finish on his weaker foot and unexpected going near post.

Look, I'm not going to enter the argument but I will have to set something straight. That first goal was a swinger shot, he didn't give anyone the eyes, the NBC commentator is chatting bullah ! If you see the angle of the camera in front of him (staring at him face on) you will see that, once he was approaching to take the shot (a few steps before) he never once took his eyes off the ball, his eyes were purely on the ball. He had no idea where the keeper was or what the keeper did. Fortunately the poor positioning/attempt made by the keeper allowed the strike to go in. It wasn't some great strike at all and it certainly wasn't "the eyes" LOOOOOOL

But I am not going to take anything away from the goal because he was brave enough to strike it with his wrong foot and it went in - thats all that matters.

Some contradiction there.

Not sure on the eyes comments either but from the way the keeper shaped up and how the defender made sure to cover the far post, it's fair to say they weren't expecting that. If he hadn't have scored from that or shot blocked I'm sure the critics would have said again he's one dimensional.

Not really, I don't want to get involved in the back and forth about Auba's lack of form. I just wanted to make a point about the first goal. I also don't want to take anything away from it being a good goal - even if he literally just swung his foot at it. The end result is what matters to me - it hitting the back of the onion !!

Don't see where the contradiction is. :dontknow:

When has anybody on this forum said he was the greatest striker ever?

Or attempted to defend his shitty form by bringing up his scoring record at Dortmund or with the Gabonese NT?

Ozil nutters are still talking about Real Madrid and his one assist in WC 2014 like that has any relevance in 2021.
