Shot to goals ratio is not a great statistic to assess a strikers finishing - for obvious reasons.
It depends entirely on where shots are being taken from. A striker who tends to shoot less often from long range is more likely to have a better shots to goals ratio.

Far more important is the number of big chances a striker gets where he would be expected to score compared to how many he converts.

Auba does have a great goal in his locker, no doubt. However, he misses far too many chances that he should score.
Last year Auba had 45 big chances in the league to score a goal and he converted 22 of them.
Mane 22/33
Salah 22/38
Aguero 21/31
Vardy 18/35
Kane 17/28

I could go on, but of the top 20 goalscorers in the league, Auba had the worst conversion rate of big chances.

I'd like to see him improve that this season - a lot.

Interesting stat: Auba is one of only 6 players who've scored 25+ goals in each of the last 5 seasons.

The other five are Messi, Ronaldo, Aguero, Suarez, and Lewandowski.

Must play Auba through the center. I like Laca but more interested in a Auba-Pepe partnership.

If you only focus on his chances missed stat, you'd realise he's an average player.

Will say it again. Love him, probably my favourite Arsenal player. But misses too many big big chances against the top teams

He needs a centre forward next to him and Lacazette is the only one we have. We basically played 4-6-0 today with two wing forwards and nobody up front.

I've said before Auba can't play as the main striker. Today has shown again how much he needs Laca to play off.
