Should have learned from the RVP saga. What's 25mil to a title or in Auba's case a CL qualf? The money from either of those would have offset the 25 mil loss. Auba, granted his form doesn't tail off, the professional that he is, will score 25-30 goals overall in next season and remainder of the current; after which who cares. He'll be 32 anyway. So make use of his best form while we can. Keep him anyways and cross the bridge when we have to.
Also, who knows he might change his mind when the going 's good.

However, Arsenal could also lose Gabonese strike Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is wanted by Real Madrid. The 30-year-old is wanted by Zinedine Zidane as an alternative to Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez - who is only interested in leaving Italy for Barcelona.(Sport - in Spanish)

That's what we said when Henry went, when RVP went, when Sanchez went.

Someone else will always step up when the main guy goes, it happens at every club to think just because Auba scores 45% of our goals that no one else will make up the short fall even as a collective is fkin stupid.

I'd love him to stay but you can't keep a guy who has a year left on his contract and is def going regardless, in 12 months time it won't be even up to us so better start to live with it because its happening.

Our total points per season and ranking steadily fell every time we lost a player like Henry, RVP, Sanchez and didn’t replace them. We went from top two, to top four, to top six, to top ten.

That wasn't just due to one player though, that was an all round failure of Wenger to keep targeting bargain basement type players across the board.

When we had Henry we also had Vieria, Bergkamp, Pires, the list goes on.

As the years went on through the strikers you named, Wenger's low brow policy continued and so did the dip in our team as a whole.

None of this however changes the fact that Auba IS going, he wants to go, he's made up his mind he's going so all of this "Should we, shall we" discussion is moot.

That’s exactly the point sunshine. You add to your best players, not replace your best players.

I don't know where I stand on this. I see merit in both arguments.

Who stepped up when RVP left? We got Giroud, while RVP walked United to the title.

We didn't get a proper goalscorer in until 2014 w/ Alexis. And in those days, 4th place was a done deal, as there was no Liverpool or Spurs to worry about.

When Alexis left, PEA picked up the mantle, but we were in EL places then. Attacking wise, he's pretty much carried the team since he arrived.

It's 2020 now, and we just got eliminated by Olympiakos in the EL despite his efforts to save us.

Nobody's stepping up these days except for PEA and Leno. If either of them leave, we're f***ked.

The idea when RVP went was to replace him with a prolific inside forward (Podolski) and a big man up top who could hold the ball up for him.

Podolski didn't work out so we got Sanchez, it was only a year because the set up didn't work.

We haven't qualified for the CL with Auba.

If his heart isn’t in it next season, then he’ll likely get nowhere near his normal goal tally and we’ll be denying someone else the chance to step up.

If he wants to go, then we have to cash in ASAP.

RVP - 8 years at Arsenal, mostly spent in a hospital
PEA - 2.5 years at Arsenal, never injured, 4.5 years at Dortmund, never injured

He's our only hope for a trophy next season. We've missed out on silverware many times because of injuries to key players.

Renewing Auba is the test for the post Wenger era. Can the new crew do what Wenger could not?

Why did we even sign him on a 3.5 year contract tbh ?

Essentially means we really need to start talking about a renewal after 6 months.

The club is a joke.
