It's a sophisticated formation that requires a lot of discipline and a huge engine from your 3 central midfielders, but we have the personnel in Ramsey, Torreira and Guendouzi.

Even your strikers will have to track back regularly or you will end up getting overrun.

What helps is that Auba/Özil/Laca can share the defensive work load.

Full backs provide much-needed width with midfielders giving cover which we are already doing now.

Torreira having over a 100 games experience in this particular formation is another plus.

Tbf we've been saying 41212 since the summer, which is basically a 4312. It's clear that it will get the best out of our front 3.

Yeah I was happier with it when we switched.

I didn't see any benefits at all that we lost moving from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-1-2.

Auba offers so little wide that there was no adverse effect him moving up top and he was a whisker away from scoring.

Let the full backs provide the width and with 3 CM's we should be able to get hold of games by the scruff of the neck, Iwobi and Mkhi are CAM's really anyway so they could easily play on the left or right of a 3 with Xhaka and Torreia.

.......... one concern though is whether Emery will go that route because of Welbeck being unavailable for the Europa?

He may keep one for Prem, one for Europa, simply based on striker numbers in the squad.

When we are on the attack, opposing teams will leave a maximum of 2 players up. If our full backs have bombed on to provide width that leaves us with 2 CBs and a holding midfielder - a possible 3 vs 2 in our favour in the event of them forming a counter attack. Surely thats enough.

He is a better scorer than Laca, when he gets his confidence back which can only happen playing cf he will be be banging them in.

He is already banging them in. He's joint top scorer with Aguero.

Aguero doesn't do much in build up anymore, who cares he is a goal machine

Difference is, Aguero doesn't do much, Auba gets involved n fucks it up because he's either on the wing or dropping in when CF.

If he's gonna just be a poacher that's fine but let the others get the ball to the box then.

I thought he was good today all around. That chance he missed was tougher than it looked and it took some skill to even receive the ball with your chest like that. Also done well to assist Mkhi but he f***ked it up.

Thought the same as well. We lack players inside the box, where he should be.

Reckon Auba is more of a consistent scorer but Lacazette is someone who can produce those magical moments out of nowhere. He's technically superior too.

But both are awesome. :arse flag.gif:
