Ok to have a random pop at one of your players in your team on a night where he did his job though?

When has anybody on this forum said he was the greatest striker ever?

Or attempted to defend his shitty form by bringing up his scoring record at Dortmund or with the Gabonese NT?

Ozil nutters are still talking about Real Madrid and his one assist in WC 2014 like that has any relevance in 2021.

Auba can only dream of achieving what Ozil achieved. It was Auba's dream to play for Real Madrid, Ozil has been there, done that.

Was it critical of one arsenal player to praise another?
If that’s the point I really don’t get it

Santi's problem is he thinks he has a point when he really doesn't.

I think quarantine is getting to him.

A lot of people struggling out there, we should be patient with him, bless his little cottons.

Its bad enough the world is in lockdown, but then on top of that Auba starts scoring as well!? ffs can it get any worse??

No, i think the reality is that Auba had his first good game of the season and the expectations are a LOT higher than 5 goals in 19 games.
If he scores another 15-20 in the next 19 games then he'll help us out greatly and reach a level where his contribution matches his contract - for the season overall. Keep in mind he needs at LEAST 15 PL goals in the next 20 games to get to a 20 goal season (which should be the bare minimum)
Until he puts in consistent performances week in week out, doing the job he is paid to do, then criticism is totally fair.
One game does not make up for a really crappy half-season.

Auba isn't immune to criticism, no one said he is.

But Santi trying not to even give him credit for his goals is just blatantly hating, there's a difference.

He deserves credit for a good game - well actually the second half.
I think we all hope he can maintain that second half level for the rest of the season.
He clearly doesn't need to score 2 goals every 45 minutes, but he does need to get a shift on to get to 20 for the season.
Anything less than that is a failure - and in reality, his form has really hurt us in the first half of the season.

He will score if we create enough. He's never been Alexis or van Persie good, so not sure what you guys expect.

We've been appalling this season from an attacking standpoint. In 12/13, after van Persie's departure, we didn't have any world class attacker. Yet, we only scored two goals fewer than 11/12. The goals were evenly distributed amongst Podolski, Cazorla, Giroud, and Walcott. It hasn't worked that way under Arteta so far.

We've improved defensively but our GD is only 4 and we've scored a meagre 23 goals after 19 games.

The problem, as I see it, is in the system. Blaming individual players this season is pointless. If ESR hadn't stepped up, we know where we would stand.

I don't expect Auba to tear it apart. Hope he does. Before that, I do expect us to be more inventive in attack. At least, I hope so.

This is what I'm getting at, its exactly the same situation with Ozil.

If certain fans have a problem with a player, all of a sudden if that player doesn't have a WC Messi level game, he's sh*t and should be binned.

With Ozil if he didn't make 10 assists while also doing a Makelele impression running back to defend he was rubbish apparently.

But when your hating on a player your never going to have measured criticism, which is my whole point.

The goals from way out left, where he dribbles into the box and taps in with his right are gone; he will only be able to score those if the defenders are asleep.

His movement needs to improve, he should be getting into poacher style positions inside the box. Tierney, Saka and ESR can all pick him out there.

The problem is that Laca is already pretty good at carving out space for himself there, and rightly expects the ball to come to him in those positions.
