Good point, and may well be the case.

Hence, the rationale for Unai requesting the board sell them both.

Understand that Unai has informed the board to sanction the sale of both Auba and Laca, which would generate enough funds for us to sign Zaha and still have money left over to sign two off: Gameiro, Negredo or Nolito to replace them.

Nketiah and the likely signing of Martinelli (post confirmation of Edu arrival) are seen as being able competition before challenging to start in a season or two.

As an extra, as widely reported, if Unai gets his wishes and Torreira is shipped out, we will likely turn our attention to Banega to complete the puzzle.

A lot of talk here whether we should sell Auba or not. If he's willing to sign a new contract we should keep him. If he's not then we should sell him. Simple.

I don't mind selling Auba. 60m for a 30 year old who has 2 years max. They can't give him a new contract since he wants 300k and they'll be in the exact same boat as Ozil in a few years. Sell and start the rebuild with the money.

Watch his goals for us, and revisit this line of thinking that he's dependent on his pace.

He is a poacher, his best talent is knowing where to be in the box when the ball is played to him. More than half his goals are tap-ins because of this. He also has a strong right footed shot and can score from outside the box as well.

His biggest weakness was the sheer number of chances he blew towards the end of the season. That's not pace-related at all, it was him being careless and taking the shot too early.

If there's any forward I would want to stick around past 30, it's him.

Auba scores 30 goals and would extend if you put an offer on the table

You’re looking at Callum Wilson/Giroud numbers with Laca

Wouldn’t sell either, but I’d rather sell Laca, and extend Auba’s contract if i had to choose between them

Auba will also age well, he’s rapid but he’s not as reliant on his pace as people believe. The reason he gets so many goals is because his intelligence off the ball gets him so many opportunities
Fully agree

What if it's his pace and acceleration that enables him to get into position to slip markers and poach goals? All the off the ball movement and sudden bursts of pace, change of direction and gaining that advantage and space in a short distance....he might not be dependent on long distance speed like a Henry or Walcott, but he's sharp and quick in short bursts.

You'll have to make up your own mind about that.

Biggest threat to his form, as with anybody, is a long term injury. This guy has a special talent for finding himself in space without depending on speed.

The fact that he can get the Golden Boot even with Ozil finished as a top player means he's worth more to us than whatever £60m would buy in the current market.

Just from watching a few of his goals, the 2nd goal, I think the 6th, 7th and 8th, the goal from that Ozil pass, Kolasinac cut back...when he starts to slow and his body doesn't react to moments as he's used to, we'll see if he's able to get into position. It's one thing to see the move develop and know where you should be, but it's another getting there.

But agree on major injury being more of a threat. He's done a fantastic job for us, I would prefer to keep him but the contract situation makes things complex. That's what's forcing our hand.

£62m from Manchester United for Aubameyang? What are they trying to buy, his golden boot? £500m plus Old Trafford and we can talk.

I am extremely happy with this brilliant signing but a certain performance against a certain relegation candidate reminded me that PEA is far from enough.

Imagine if we sell AUba to Utd and Laca to Atletico on deadline day and can't replace them.

Net spend would be negative plus we have nketiah and martinelli to take their place so there would be at least 3 posters on here that would be ecstatic.
