So so so happy for Cech. What a moment. Just like watching a movie. Why Troy why?

Then you're just underestimating how good of an achievement this really is especially this day in age.

Goalkeepers by their very nature play a lot of matches. It could even happen again relatively soon. All you need is a good club to have a young keeper who remains there for a long time.

What will be interesting is when it is broken, will they be able to do it in less matches. That would be very difficult.

It won't be.

If you look at the list, no one else is even close -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_P ... ean_sheets

It takes world class ability, longevity and the benefit of playing behind a great defence for your entire career - which Terry and co. provided for him at Chelsea.

It really is an unprecedented record.

Also, the record isn't even set yet, Cech will get more clean sheets in the PL (just hopefully not with us).

This.

He will probably get about 3 or 4 more with us and that will be about it.

His contract is up this summer and it's quite likely he will retire.

Conversations like this spin me out

Its like having a convo with a Victorian about possible future inventions and he doesn't see that anything else could possibly be invented

its because the requiremnets are specific and unique

to match it you need to be

- a world class keeper
- consistently be in front of a world class defence
- play every week
- not get tempted to move to a barca/madrid
- move to the prem at a young age

whats de gea on?

De Gea is on 90.

The only one who could possibly get somewhat near it but it's almost certain that he will end up at Madrid eventually.

Mark Schwartzer is third on the list with 151 playing for dross teams most of his career

We're talking about matching or surpassing it.

Yes and if Mark Schwartzer who was never WC and mostly played for garbage teams, can get that many it shows it can realistically be done.

Schwarzer will be the first to tell you that over the years defences have changed.

The majority of teams in the Premier League over the last 10-15 years had good/decent defences with that no nonsense attitude.

These days defenders are nowhere near what they use to be and it's all about systems, which can be far easier to break down.

We'll see.

The Invincible's record could realistically be broken but I don't see it happening.
