Is he though? The jury is still out on him. I've said before, is he better than Bendtner through the middle? So far he only seems to be able to score with his head, which is something we're no good at setting up. How long have we been crying out for a target man as a 'plan B'?
We do need another, more technical, striker that suits our style. But I'm still all for having someone like Giroud.

Agreed PG.
Giroud would shine playing alongside a more technical striker like Podolski. On the flip side it would also allow bring the best out of Podolski as he is currently being criminally wasted on the LHS. Cazorla would add the much needed bite/penetration on the left wing. Not saying Cazorla cannot play as a CAM but imo his best attributes will come through when he is on the flanks imo. With Rosicky's return we can afford to shift Cazorla to the Left wing.
