Well, he did. 31/38 PL games last season. First name on the team sheet. This is after he spent £45m on a replacement and made him look like Frimpong.
Xhaka was the main cheerleader for Arteta and Emery in the locker room; without him, the players are either apathetic or actively dislike them both. With him gone, it's over for Arteta.
No, he used what he had available and Xhaka unfortunately was one of our best options. Now he has a chance to sell him and is doing so.
Shows all you moaners for what you are lol.
Yes, Xhaka was indeed one of our 'best' options....after 3 other CMs were sent away on loan, and the CM whose loan he renewed turned out to be actually worse than Xhaka.
To frame this as a chance to sell him is laughable. Arteta would happily extend his deal if he could; it's Xhaka who wants to go.
Guendouzi was sent on loan for being a brat, plus he isn't that good to justify it.
Torreira wanted to leave and his second season showed he was no better than Xhaka anyway.
Who the f**k was the other? Don't tell me you're claiming AMN as a CM?
Either way, he clearly determined he had to keep and use Xhaka. I like Elneny but let's not kid ourselves that over 38 games the guy will give us anymore than Xhaka, maybe 1-2 less mistakes but more defensive passes. Xhaka actually did better this past season and it was noticeable when he wasn't there.
End of the day you've moaned at Arteta keeping him and using him, yet expect him to get top 4 with a kid like Azeez or Elneny for 38 games now he's being sold and it's all because Xhaka suddenly wants to leave his cushty home with a manager who apparently loves him? Okay buddy...
