You say that but Giroud did score 1 per game regularly.

........... and this is from someone who hated Giroud with a passion.

Giroud had many attributes we miss now. His hold up play, his heading ability and his engaging of the opposing central defenders.

Giroud's hold up play was terrible, he fell on the floor more often than he held up the ball.

Not really fair to compare these as two different positions

Xhaka is nowhere near as good as someone like Denilson/Diaby, as those two played in an elite midfield in comparison to Xhaka people think they’re worse

You put Xhaka alongside Fabregas and Nasri and ask him to play CDM we’d be conceding 6 every game

Absolutely, he wasn't that bad loooool

I agree in part that Giroud did at times get rough treatment from fans, me included, but for me it was a case of seeing what we had and what we went to that gave me little compassion and patience with him. Henry/Bergkamp to Bendtner, Adebayor, Chamakh, Gervinho and Giroud. :BangHead:

Giroud's biggest issue is you can't go from Henry then RVP ........... to Oliver Giroud and be happy about it.

Do you remember when we used to play him a through ball and he was clear on goal 5m ahead of the defender marking him.

The world stood still, he'd look at the ball, look how far away goal was and start to run, fully knowing he was never going to make it and that the CB was about to catch him like the Tortoise and the Hare.

I used to get so pissed off, he'd end up stopping turning then playing it backwards lol.

He was so slow, one minute he'd look up and he was clear on goal, 4 steps later the entire opposition was back in a solid two banks of four.

I'd take £15m for him. If this were Chelsea, they'd probably have gotten £25m for him.

Regardless, the alleged fee we paid for him was actually £25m + add-ons and not the outright £35m that's widely touted around.

£15m would be a good deal.

Arsenal's Swiss international Granit Xhaka, 28, remains Roma's top target in midfield. (Corriere dello Sport - in Italian)

More likely to retire at the club and become the youth coach.
That's about our level currently
