Xhaka isn't a bad player. But the rope he's given is not for him. He needs a DM behind him and he needs to play the role of a DLP with his long balls and just dictating passing. He's too slow to play a DM's role and he's not physical either. Don't know why Emery doesn't see that.

He's a terrible player and not good enough (or even close) a this level. It's not like he's as bad as players like Nelson or Willock, it's just that Xhaka makes too many errors under pressure. That flaw takes away any good he does with passing. We can;t have players in the team who will give the opposition the ball so many times in dangerous positions.

Well I am not going to get into xhaka skill level or his possition but for me the captain is the first name on the team sheet every game
If that person is xhaka we are in deep shit

He can't defend and can't dictate play with his passing. Yet Emery thought it was a good idea to take of Ceballos and Ozil but leave these joker on.

The only performer worse than Xhaka during Xhaka's time here has been Emery (and Mustafi too).
David Luiz

So...

Emery, Mustafi, Luiz, and Xhaka—our four clowns, in that order? :sneaky2:

Starting him is detrimental to the team and that's one of the things I blame Emery for and making him captain but that might be a master plan by him as we don't keep captains long.

Got to say, the team is mirroring their captain

Emery has a hell of a job on.

Imagine The Arsenal being scared of a Watford team that has not won a single game since the season started. They had accumulated a massive 1 points before yesterday.

And our captain says we were scared. How are we then going to fare away to City, Chelsea, Spuds, United, etc if the likes of 1 point Watford were terrifying us?

The whole club just seems to have taken on a loser weak mentality for more than a decade.

Now even the new players we sign each season change their attitude and become cowards once they come to Arsenal.

This weak / loser mentality seems to be ingrained in our psyche since we moved to the Emirates in 2006.

Sad.

I think we have a bigger problem than just xhaka.
The whole team looks lost. Comical Defenders. Poor midfielders apart from Ceballos.
Pepe looks like a Gervinho reincarnation right now. He needs to hit the gym, easily bullied off the ball. Can’t pass or shoot to save his life.
Nelson and Willock are just being exposed for the young boys they are. Very lightweight and don’t know what to do with the ball once in the final 3rd.

Only Auba, Laca and Ceballos can have individual performances that might keep getting us points. But apart from that it is all looking dire.

We've never had a loser mentality. Even when we weren't winning trophies, we were blowing teams away playing some of the best football ever seen in the Prem. We didn't win because we didn't have the money.

Once we could spend and bought Ozil and Alexis, we did win trophies and were consistently finishing in the top-4 behind big money spenders.

When we lost to lesser teams, it was usually against the run of play, or due to some shithousery by the referee. We never conceded possession to the likes of Leicester at home or were thoroughly outclassed by the likes of Watford.

People seem to forget that we wanted Wenger gone because the top-4 status quo alone wasn't enough. We wanted Arsenal to challenge for trophies and with Wenger, we couldn't see that happening. Even until the wee end Wenger was playing in the cup finals, winning trophies, and was a hair away from the EL final—losing to a European powerhouse. All this in his worst season.

The loser mentality is slowly being instilled here and now. Look at us in 2019. If you factor in the new manager bounce and the Wenger effect last year, we are progressively worsening since the start of this year. The collapse last season is carrying over to the new season.

If we don't act now, Emery will leave his loser mentality behind and we'd be left with another manager having to clear a deeper mess. We're already wasting Lacazette, Aubameyang, Ozil, Ceballos, Guendouzi, and Torreira as we speak. Imagine what a top draw manager is capable of with this squad.

We have to be ruthless. We play like cowards and as the saying goes, a team mirrors its manager. So are we.

It's all looking dire because of the Head Coach. We hired the wrong person. Mistakes happen. That's part of the game. But we need to correct those mistakes now before it's too late.

Pretty much echoes the sentiment of my previous post.

As the opposing manager, it must be like playing poker and slowly squeezing your hand out to realise that you've got a running flush when you see Xhaka's name on the team sheet, as you know the simple instruction to let him receive the ball then instantly jump on him to stop him getting his head up to see a pass but instead have to react in trying to keep the ball will definitely pay dividends.

For all his passing ability, the quick one touch pass either short or long that is already figured out before receiving the ball is not his forte, hence easy escape route from trouble bypassed but instead taking a touch and having his head kept down as he tries to twist and turn to create the opportunity to get his head up and make a pass as slaloming past a couple of players to get out of trouble like Ceballos and Ozil can or Cesc and Santi used to is simply not an option if you manoeuvre like an articulated lorry.
