Xhaka looks brilliant every time he has lots and lots of time on the ball. When he doesn't, however, he gets caught in possession time and time again.

The problem with Xhaka is that his game is easy so easy to dissect which shows up his limitations at the drop of a hat. Allow him time and space on the ball and he will ping long passes for fun but put him under pressure and he will fall apart in no time. Add to it his slowness and lack of defensive instincts he becomes a ticking time bomb. A defensive midfielder is first assessed on solidity first and foremost. If in one word i can describe him it would be ''undependable''.

Been much better since he's been told to sit deeper with Jack and Ramsey infront instead of playing as a box to box midfielder that just wasn't working at all.

He actually tracked back, covered the back four (kinda) and was the deepest midfielder even when Elneny came on???

Has the penny finally dropped?

Love the fact that this is actually against Wenger's instruction. Just look at his reaction last week. This is maybe Xhaka's 5th or 6th goals from distance in Arsenal shirt.

Xhaka would be much more effective when he's not played through the middle, he doesn't have the speed or defensive ability to cope. He has a wicked left foot though, and I'd much rather see him being played in Ox's old position of RM. At least then his sideways passing might get the ball to Ozil, Wilsh or Mikhitaryan.

Since Alexis left, he's really our last remaining player not afraid to shoot from outside the box.

Shooting like an idiot when you're 2-0 up and in the 90th minute and need to keep possession deserves a bollocking from the manager.

Don't know whats going on with this guy but he could be about to make one of the biggest turn arounds in football history.

He's been top class for a month or so now.

As soon as he came on yesterday you got that sense of calm about him that we didn't have when we had Elneny on. Everything just seemed more controlled. You can tell he was born to be a leader despite what you think of his footballing ability.

I wonder if it's got anything to do with his comments about his lack of instructions?

Xhaka is the only player we have who can start an attack from a deep position. We looked totally lifeless without him. Jack and Ramsey are better suited in more advanced positions. We need to find a solid partner for Xhaka in central midfield. My pick is Barcelona's Sergi Samper. He's like a young Busquets. Very good on the ball, creative AF and stays in position easing the defensive load on Xhaka. He's also looking to move in summer.

sergi samper is absolutely f***ked, injuries after injuries

as for xhaka he was like thsi at the end of last season then had one of the worst halfs of a season ive ever seen

he looked sharper, quicker on the ball and much more fluid as a team once he came on and elneny & wilsh came off, no coincidences there

Hadn't we scored the first goal before Xhaka came on? In which case the orks would have had to come out of their half.
