The clown should have been sacked for giving him an extension on his contract.

They need to clear up how we signed this guy. I also recall Wenger not really knowing his position and some mix up thinking he's a box to box player.

It's not just Xhaka. Many also have a problem with shielding the ball too. It's why we had issues with handling the press (still the case but getting much better) and why we had problems winning possession against better teams.
Unfortunately for us it's not just Xhaka in our current midfield. Partey hasn't been a great tackle either.

However, the story is typically overblown. Of course, they CAN tackle and they both have been ok, especially Xhaka through his career.

He's not a DM and neither is Partey, that is the problem. Need someone who is pretty much a CB playing in midfield.

Ben White for me. He can play that role, leaving Saliba and Gabriel as CBs.

Elneny's passing qualities are better than his defensive attributes.

I don't get this 'move a CB to a DM role' idea.
They are two totally different positions to play.
How many CB's do we see playing central midfield?

If we need a DM (we do) then we should sign one - not fill the role with a CB.

I agree.

White is a CB, leave him there, we don't want to turn White into an AMN type utility player.

Elneny is actually good at defending as a CDM and knows his job, we're not as desperate for a CDM as we're making out.

We missed the boat getting rid of him, now we’ve offered him a new contract we’re stuck with him.

So you think you know better than Wenger, Emery and Arteta?

Why don't you become a football manager if you have it all so figured out?

Good point, Wenger only signed elite players. Criminal that Mustafi doesn't have a statue yet

Have you not seen Stepanov's statue ? Apparently its made from some next-gen material that makes it look invisible, but if you look closely you will see the statue right next to Thierry's.

Jay, have you heard the story of the boy that cried wolf ??

According to you EVERY article that shows Arteta in a bad light is fake, wrong or overblown. Are you unable to accept ANY criticism of Arteta as being valid ?? Its getting beyond a joke now.

The best DM we have at the club is Torreira, don't know why that is even a discussion, he is head and shoulders better than Elneny - who himself isn't bad I might add, just way too basic for my liking.

Yeah Torreira is the only one that doesn’t manage to look bad alongside Xhaka.

You don't come back when banished to the shadow realm. He's been gone for over 2 years now, didn't even break discipline the way Guendouzi did.

Roma are expected to make a new attempt to sign Arsenal and Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka, 29, this summer. (football.london)

Surely we can't mess this up again
