It was just too safe all over the pitch. Predicatble play. Saka was off his game and Willian is Willian so we didn't stretch them or force them to make a difficult decision from the wing. The dangerous moments came from Bellerin and Tierney crossing.

Willian has been god awful for most of the season, and his best assist is still the one he provided to Auba on his debut. Still hasn't scored, mind you.

That being said, he has admitted to struggling to adjust to Arteta's system and that he wants to do better. We can see that he's making more of an effort now than earlier in the season .

Ozil OTOH had checked out mentally. Laca and Auba had ~80 goals from open play from Jan 2018 to the end of last season and he was behind maybe 5 of them. He never acknowledged his drop in form, and never attempted to adjust to a new style of play. Really soured my opinion of him.

That comparison fails to recognise that Willian has made 29 appearances for Arsenal this season, 1588 mins, and got 7 assists. It also doesn't show he went 9 league games before this mini run of form without scoring or getting an assist.

Contrast that to Ozil who joined a new club in a new league mid-season, who has made 7 appearances 6 league and 1 cup) and played 418 mins with 0 assists.

You say it is Willian who is the Arsenal player but its your duty to at least be fair and balanced when you give your stats! Willian didnt get an assist for more games than Ozil has played for Fener, and I haven't even mentioned Willian's other run of league games where he did f**k all!

The original answer to the original tweet regarding willian having more assists than Ozil in the last 2 years I misunderstood and stated that fact but then on drawing down on the exact most recent minutes it showed Willian in a better light therefore I thought it was an encouraging thing to post from a current Arsenal perspective

When Ozil wasn't assisting or scoring, he still contributed to our game, he still created chances, he still bossed midfields. But it doesn't matter as long as long as we can go along with our own narratives.

Elneny has scored more European goals than Santi Cazorla. Guess Elneny has been more valuable to us.
