The contract is costing 35m over three years - that's 220k a week or 20m in bonuses and 100k a week - bottom line it's still 35m. If he plays like a 220k a week player and earns all his bonuses then that's definitely worth it, only time will tell.

Guess we should do this with every deal then. Arsenal paid a 72 mil transfer fee for Pepe + he reportedly signed a 5 year deal earning around 140k a week so that means the contract costing 420k a week.

Auba cost 52 million transfer fee on a 3,5 year contract earning 200k per week so that means the contract is nearly 490k a week.

I wouldn't mind if this was how all transfers were discussed, because it is accurate. It's totally misleading however to use these numbers for some players and not for others.

The idea that Arteta has revealed Willian our plans to win the Champions League in three years is utterly absurd. We are supposed to believe Willian has come to a much weaker team to win the Champions League just because of Arteta's cunning plan. What is the motivation behind coming out with such rubbish?

To me, it seems Willian and the club are desperate to clear the image of the transfer. They don't want it to seem like Willian has come to Arsenal for one last pay day. That is understandable, but at least keep the story within the confines of reality.

Lampard wanted to keep him, but it's Marina Graioskova (sp?) that handles agent negotiations, and she wouldn't offer more than 2 years. That's it, nothing nefarious.

Same as when Man City offered Sagna a 3 year deal where Wenger+Gazidis only offered 1. He ended up playing a good chunk of the first 2 years under Pellegrini, and as a substitute in his final year under Pep. I imagine we are looking to do the same thing.

I assume Laca has the central striker role and if he goes he'll be replaced.

Assuming we sign a DM it'd be 4-3-3 with Xhaka and Ceballos either side of the DM. Assuming we don't sign a DM then it has to be 5-2-3 with Xhaka and Ceballos at CM.

Unless he plays CAM in a 4-2-3-1 (we'd have to drop one of xhaka/ceballos for a DM which I can't see Arteta doing)?

The only other thing I can think is that Laca is off and Willian plays as a false9?

It looks like he'll be a squad player rather than a starter.
