We can all laugh at the jokes but the truth is we all saw this coming, just as we all saw the Auba contract becoming a lead-weight, and how we all saw not selling Laca when he refused to extend would lead to him going cheap or free ...

The miss-management of contracts and salaries is beyond funny - it's tragic.

With the euphoria of Italy playing some good football and winning something for the first time in yonks (yes, yonks is still recognised and accepted as a viable unit of measurement up here in God's own country), the possibility exists that maybe one or two decent clubs from Serie A might just cast an envious eye our way in knowing how much that league has a penchant for accommodating players on final approach to the twilight of their career and enquire about Mr. da Silva, nonchalant like.

However, since we appear to be using one of those seaside amusement arcade mechanical grab arms which tend to be incapable of lifting and carrying whatever object of desire to the hopper shute as our means of removing those players deemed surplus to requirements, the likelihood of Willian surviving the cull and remaining on our books for at least another season remains strong.

For the sake of pulling our plonkers again and inciting another mass squabble amongst the gunner faithful, wouldn't it be just bloody typical for the Brazilian to get an opportunity from the subs bench and then take it with some aplomb so as to warrant outings from the start and he then play for the rest of the season like our kit was royal blue and white and himself newly reborn.

As has been stated before, it is not advisable for anyone with a weak heart to support The Arsenal, seriously. Weak minds, yes, they're more than welcome apparently, but weak hearts, no.

He needs a rebranding. We should call him Cristiano da Silva. A hot new thing from Brazil and try to sell him to some unsuspecting club.

The season before we bought Willian (19-20) his stats in the Pl compared to Grealish were...

Games:
Willian 36
Grealish 36

Goals
Willian 9
Grealish 8

Assists
Willian 7
Grealish 5

What the hell happened when he joined Arsenal?

He got homesick. He remembers Mother Chelski too much.

Got an end of career golden payment, courtesy of Arsenal.
He has nothing to play for now.
A club should never be in a position to be holding the final contract of a players career unless that player is absolutely exceptional - I mean Bergkamp level - OR that player has been with the club his whole career - like Tony Adams.

Handing out massive contracts to career mercenaries when they get to 30 is just the dumbest thing any club could do.

I think you're right.

He was apparently very disappointed to not get another contract at chelski, and if you sign a player like that it can one of two ways. He can either get motivated by it or demotivated. Unfortunately for us it was the latter.

Total insanity. You'd think we would have learned from the Ozil debacle, but no.

That's a rookie management error.

Why is this in the Saliba thread?
