If Simon Francis and Frazer Richardson can keep him out of the team, I think one of your under 9 players would be able to keep him out of the team!

Jenkinson turns down Addicks

Charlton youngster Carl Jenkinson has rejected a new contract and could be poised for a dream summer move to Arsenal.

The 19-year-old left-back recently broke into Chris Powell's first team but now looks set to leave The Valley at the end of the season with his performances having reportedly caught the eye of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

"We've worked hard to convince Carl that he would be a key figure in Chris Powell's plans going forward," chairman Michael Slater told the club's official website.

"But regrettably Carl will not sign the contract and has indicated he wishes to leave the club at the end of the season.

"Having been with the club for 11 years and recently described his run of games in the first team as 'a dream come true', it is a real shame that he appears to have decided his future lies elsewhere."

Better news for the Addicks is that 20-year-old right-back Chris Solly has agreed a new two-year deal.

There was a time when we regularly scoured the local regions for emerging talent.
If only Wenger would put that same faith in some established talent and buy from the EPL.

Why are people so exited at signing a youngster who isn't even that good?

Are times just that bad at Arsenal?

Apparently we've signed him. Or, are in the midsts of doing so?

Arsenal have been closely linked with a move for the out-of-contract Charlton defender Carl Jenkinson for some time, and it seems that the rumours were totally correct!

The 19 year-old only made his debut for the Addicks in December but he has been closely watched by Arsenal scouts ever since. The Daily Mirror says that the Gunners have now decided to take him to the Emirates and have prepared a four-year contract.

They also report that, rather than go to a tribunal to sort out compensation, Arsenal will agree to pay Charlton £1m in stages.

Jenkinson is obviously talented and has played for both England and Finland at youth levels. With the talk of Gael Clichy possibly leaving at the end of the season, he could immediately move up to being understudy to Kieran Gibbs if Wenger doesn’t buy a replacement.
