Feck sake!

Reading the Matchday thread makes scraping my eyes with a fork seem like a good idea!
Why the feck are folks ignoring the blatant facts??

Yes - the ref was harsh sending off RvP
Yes - we were still in it at that point
And yes- Bendy missed our ONLY chance of the match.

However

FACT: They had 19 attempts on goal
FACT: We had a grand total of nil
FACT: They had 74% of posssession whereas we had 26%
FACT: We had Almunia to thank for the result not being an ICC World cup scoreline
FACT: We couldn't string 3 passes together.
FACT: Cesc, Diaby, Rosicky were all awful.
FACT: Barca never had to get out of 2nd gear.
FACT: Oh and Cesc was seen by millions cavorting their players in the tunnel BEFORE the game even started.

We lost. We were humbled.
There was nothing heroic about it so excuses about the ref deciding the game are just ridiculous and desperate.
We were as much (and that's being conservative) the architects of our own downfall as any other incident or factor.

I know it hurts but we need to get over it and move on good people.

Fact: We were 1-1 and through to the next round before the red card.

Fact: They couldn't break our defense with 11 men on the pitch.

f**k your facts. Facts are about as useless as stats.

Why do you insist on ignoring those facts?

At the end of 90mins, the only fact that matters is who won or lost.
We lost, move on.

Difference between mine and yours is mine is based upon what happened over the course of the whole match Leody.
Yours is based upon conjecture and speculation.
We need to get over it. Hardly anyone apart from Wilshere and Almunia stood up to be counted. Although I felt sorry for the defence who were given little protection by those in front of them.

I will agree that we have to move on. What's done is done. Nothing we can do to change it now.

But people have a right to be upset over the injustice. Bad analogy, but try tell the mourner of a murder victim to look at the facts and get over it.

Our boys have played long enough as professionals to know the man in black has to be played as well.bad decisions happen and we also get decisions go our way through the course of the season as disapointed as i are that we are out lets use this as motivation and move on learn from it,there will be many more bad decisions some for and against us.AW job now is to use this as the catalyst for results in the remaining competitions.

We were dominated early last year and losing.... but the game ended 2-2. Don't tell me we had no chance.

Yes, we need to move on but I will not concede the game was lost because of their possession, shots, or passes. They had more possession at the Emirates too but we won 2-1. The game was still there to be had, even though we were being out-played. Hell, we're the kings of outplaying teams in the prem and leaving with 1 point.

Bad decisions are something that all teams have to get over from time to time. This one was unexplainably harsh, but we know it cannot be changed.

Move on yes, but give me 24 hours to be pissed ;)

agree with all of this, at 1-1 they still needed to score two to win. I know we were outplayed last night but that doesn't change the fact that anything can happen and as soon as VP went any small chance we may have had was dramatically reduced. We're not a team who defend but we had done well up to the first goal which was a lapse of concentration and a great finish and it still looked hard for them to get another but going down to 10 pretty much ended the tie.

all this bullshit about being outplayed and not having a leg to stand on tho is crap, it was 1-1 when VP went off, we were ahead! Inter last year just defended and defended then caught barca on the counter, they were lauded for the way they stopped barca.

anyway never mind on with the prem, we can focus on that now at least.

I agree with you Gza.
We lost that game because we NEVER had the ball. The End.
I know we didn't have much possession in the first leg and still won but we never looked like scoring last night.
Massive difference between the two legs imo.
In the first one we actually put a few tackles in but more importantly when we finally won the ball off of them we held on to it for more than 3 seconds.

They totally dominated the game. It's not surprising that they won it.

I said it in the matchday thread but I feel the chances would have come in the later stages, the last 10-15 minutes, and that's when 11 men would definitely have made a difference, although you certainly won't catch me saying that we would definitely have won with 11 men.

We were second best the whole game, but we had a chance of holding on with 11 men... with 10 men? Not a chance! The sending off was a huge factor in the result.

I dont see what banging on about it will do. The sooner you move on, the better it will be. Look at the positives you now have no distractions in the league except the FA Cup. Going up against Barca is dumb anyway as all the refs love them and they all go down if you tackle them. They're a joke.

So I say, move on Gooners and don't let the Mancs win the league or FA Cup!

The pace and flow of the game was dominated by Barca. We hardly strung a sequence of passes all game. The team were in a hostile environment, and the referee wass a mess, but we should have been better organised and more positive. Some of our players seemed to bottle it. Some just werent good enough. I didnt think Barca were outstanding, The result we needed was there for the taking.
