Lacazette can play as a forward, Sanchez did it.

As long as people don't expect lots of tracking back but then if were playing 5 at the back the whole point is you don't need to track back too much from up front.

Pea
Laca mhkitaryian
Ozil

Laca grafts and is actually decent defensively. That front 4 can operate independently from the back 5 and CMs behind them.

We could play jack and niles behind those 4 for the proper graft, with both not advancing too far. Xhaka for Jack if needed, same rules apply.

The issue is Wenger. Mustafi, Xhaka and now Laca all looked decent to excellent at their previous clubs and have been poor here.

Players get a new lease on life under new managers all the time. Most recent example would be Chelsea in 15/16 under Mourinho and rhe unser Conte.

The issue is also about unreal expectations .... Lacca has always been a 'goal every two games' striker and that was in a 2nd tier league ... he's got about as many assists in his entire career as the Emirates tea-lady .... set him up and he will score, expect him to create and he will fail ....

Xhaka is a static midfielder with an eye for a long pass .... needs cover behind and creativity in front ... he is not and never has been a DCM / Box to Box / AM .... yet we ask him to play as a holding midfield player? ..... why are we so surprised when he looks lost?

Expecting Lacca and Xhaka to come to the EPL, a far tougher league than they're used to, and suddenly become better players than they were? that's unrealistic .... these are not teenage projects, these are seasoned players with over 250 games played .... what you see is what you get ....

Same goes for Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan ..... in very simplistic terms Aube is very fast with a decent finish and very few assists, whilst Mkh has a very similar track record to Walcott he scores a goal every 4.7 games, and has a goal / assist every 2.4 games ..... both are now in their late twenties and both are not going to change .... play to their strengths and we will have two quality players, play them as 'square pegs' and they will both fail .... we've seen it all before

Neither would be stuck out wide regardless of who starts in whichever position.

Our front free practically have free roles when going forward, its not going to be an issue.

We have WB's specifically for giving us width and defense on the flanks.

...That or Aubameyang is just a smoke screen and it will be 'as you were' with Mkhitaryan fitting into Alexis's role, and thats it.

Ozil won’t leave on deadline day. No one wants to pay the money for him and he’s actually quite happy here. If Auba joins, I think he’ll play in Alexis’ position with Mikhi on the right. Ozil can just float around.
