That's just the president playing hardball and trying to get as much money as possible, him leaving is inevitable if those clubs really want him - it's just a matter of price.

Yes, Jean-Michel Aulas only knows hardball, but he will sell for the right price. He said much the same thing about Hugo Lloris not long before he was sold.

that just isn't true.
Wenger changed from a 2 striker formation & Eduardo is NOT as lone striker.
he was pushed out wide lots of times for RVP & he was just not built for the wings.
his finishing was still top notch.

i honestly think if we stuck with 2 up front, we would have seen Eduardo of old come back.

Eduardo was mentally destroyed after the leg break, it affected him massively.

He lost all his confidence in the challenge and it made his game suffer because he simply couldn't cope with the idea of another crunching tackle.

We could have held onto him but there was not guarantee he would have shaken it off in the league where man and ball is admired.

It was the right thing to do for a parties which is a shame, because his finishing ability was a joy to behold at times. That guy was a true predator and would have only gotten better.

Anyone else think we have a good chance of getting him?

French + he's actually a good foil for Giroud and falls within our new transfer budget.

Bemzema and Griezmann were French too

Alexandre Lacazette

Postby xecvantec » Thu Apr 30, 2015 11:55 am

The Gunners are reportedly keen on the 26-goal man this season, who would likely have scored more goals for Lyon should he not have picked up an injury.
Earlier in the season, Lacazette was scoring at a goal-per-game ratio, which attracted the attention of a number of top European teams.

Played most of his career at RW, he's also got a very decent final ball from what i've seen. Combine that with his stocky build, pace, dribbling and lethal finishing and you've potentionally got one of the best wing forwards in world football if he continues to perform like he has when he moves to a better league. You always have to be a little careful not to get carried away with Ligue 1 players performances, but if it turns out signing Reus is unrealistic this guy should be on one of our top priorities - especially if Theo refuses to sign a new contract.

Yes, signing Reus is unrealistic. Yes, you should get him.

Ligue 1 is actually a very defensive league so getting these numbers despite playing for a team that's not PSG is a huge accomplishment.

I'd love Lacazette here. My only slight concern is that this season he hasn't scored against any team in the top 5 of Ligue 1. Which has led him to be considered a flat-track bully by some French sports commentators. Usually those who are anti-Lyon (St Etienne sympathisers, typically) but still...

He has had an awesome season though. I remember last summer he said he didn't want to move clubs as he set himself 3 targets: outscoring Ibrahimovic's last season tally, beating Ibra to finish the season as Ligue 1's top scorer and helping Lyon finish in a Champions League place. He is on course to achieve all 3, which is incredible.

It's not a problem really. Remember Suarez last season who hasn't scored against any of the top 4?
