We need players off the wages budget or we can't add to the squad ... we're skint, it seems nobody will pay 35m for a 29 year old player they can sign for free in less than two years.

The best we can hope for is having his wages paid this season and maybe 5/10m next summer ... this is now the harsh reality for clubs with massive wages budgets, and we're one of the highest.

That's what Juve do. They've spent enormously on Ronaldo and the wages of other players there. Their wage bill is zigzagging out of control.

Except there have been ZERO offers ... you might think we can name our price but there is no evidence to support that conclusion. It's not the transfer fee that's the problem it's the wages and lack of return ... it's been explained over and over but here it is again ....

Buy a 32 year old for 30m pay him 10m a year on a three year contract then he leaves for free - your overall cost 60m

Buy a 27 year old for 30m pay him 10m a year for three years on a five year contract then sell him for 20m - your overall cost 40m

All clubs know this hence once you hit 30+ your transfer value drops dramatically, sure there are exceptions but it's a huge gamble, with clubs very short of cash having to commit 60m knowing you will get nothing back, that's only for the mega rich.

Probably is, just Arsenal timing the announcement or Auba waiting to confirm the players actually get signed before he does.
