January usually dictates that most clubs go in for stopgaps. Now maybe I'm missing something - or am just thick as shit - but there are some high quality players out there, available, with very affordable release clauses. I don't see how it matters which transfer window we're in.

£50m(?) for Williams
£51m for Zubimendi
Figures around £45m floating about for Vlahovic.

Two pricey (£50m and £65m) and one mega (£105m) signing shouldn't have bankrupted us. We're not known for our massive sales, but there was a good period where we were the most - and on one or two occasions, the only - profitable club in the league. Have we spaffed the lot?!

The guys a knob. How many fcking left backs and keepers have we loaded up on?

We have two senior keepers in the entire squad, and one's on loan...

The loan keeper is cup tied he can not play most of the cup ties.
That's the point of it being such a poor signing

On the topic of LBs:
Tierney
Zinchenko
Calafiori
MLS
Kiwior

And right footed players that have played there

Timber
Tomiyasu

Taking the left footed players alone you have to ask why the hell do we have so many ?!!!

I don't want to be hearing any bollox about injuries !

I don't think Williams nor Zubi will move mid season tbh

Vlahovic seems available now, for the right money. I'd prefer a loan with option to buy though. He looked phenomenal when he joined but has shown a few limitations since.

It's more frustrating that we're being linked to £50/60m players like Duran, Vlahovic, Cunha, Marmoush etc. All solid players, could definitely do with any one of them... but also any one would all but guarantee that we don't get Isak, Gyokeres or someone of that stature.

You could argue that Vlahovic should be that big name, but I'd feel a little cheated given how much of a bit-part player he's becoming at Juve.

... the loudest noise at the moment is all about Araujo. Barca's 25 yo CB that's been injured all season. Talk of £42m. :crybaby:

And yet we're too broke to buy where we need.
And we sell/loan players like ESR and Vieira.

I'm definitely a bigger picture kinda guy. I appreciate the need to build from the back (especially given what we called "defending" during Wenger's later years), but this is batshit crazy at this point. I just can't see these bigger signings working out the way some of us have convinced ourselves they might. Like we're playing it steady, and going for players like Isak, Williams and Zubimendi in the summer. We're not. We'll go for another CB, and maybe another LB just because we need every sort of LB you can think of.

Wenger could have really done with Arteta's eye for defenders.
But Arteta could really f***ing do with Wenger's eye for a #10/winger (not here, not there type ;) )

Wenger went 49 games unbeaten with his defense. Wake us up when your pal Arteta does that.

Crazy that Kvaratskhelia is heading to PSG unopposed. Bloke earns €40k a week appaz. PSG have agreed to quadruple his salary.

Before after blah blah blah. He’s gone and we’ve spent 700 mil and only have an FA cup to show for it.

Sack Arteta and being in someone else would be the best deal imaginable.

Mertesacker as interim. Knows the club, runs the academy, would allow the players more freedom in attack.
