Not at all ludicrous. Arteta could not reach Top 4 until Chelsea and Spurs collapsed under new ownership/Conte departure. Even so, he has spent far more to qualify for the CL than Howe or Emery had to. No club is paying £15m/yr for that.

He pays top dollar to sign City and Chelsea trophy winners, on top of being gifted Saka, Saliba and Martinelli. Still can't win silverware.

Put another manager in, somebody with a trophy record and not afraid of big name signings, we won't do any worse. Might even keep some of our players that are likely losing faith after an 18th cup elimination.

If we don't win anything, but, come 2nd again in PL, get to,say, SF in CL, who will we wish to look into to replace Arteta? Probably Slot, in PL? But he's already slotted into Pool.
Maybe Howe? But, again, what has he won? Maybe a League cup ,if they beat Pool? But that'll be another massive gamble, which the owners won't take. They will hardly be willing to jettison a 60% winner against another who doesn't win so many football matches.
In top level football, it is the LEAGUE, stupid! We like it or not. It is our bread and butter! Period!
A 7th position finish w/ a league cup/ FA, will probably get a stay for execution at Arsenal or ManU, but not for long.
The owners will look for stability and be in contention for winning big things. That's the name of the game.

Arteta can be replaced, but, only by a serial winner. Maybe Anchelotti or Pep, at this point,if they could be ensnared, but I doubt it very much.
Others like Mourinho ( past his prime), Conte,( a hothead) will demand wholesale changes and another massive layout of money and another 3 year project w/ no guarantees. Doubt, the owners will fall for them.
They will probably rather open their purse a bit and get 2-3 players with potential and in form to get the young manager over the line. A lesser gamble for them.

Ancelotti, Allegri, Conte. Ancellotti would be my prime replacement. He'd get the most out of our players and Real Madrid would most likely sack him even if they win the league or CL again

Kronke held talks with him couple months ago,
Could all be Propoganda though. But would make sense withholding any more money to Arteta

Past it IMO.

7-8 years ago Atletico scouted hidden gems on the cheap and Simeone could get them performing well in the league and CL, snatching the odd cup when Barca and Real were having an off year.

Now, Atletico has a squad of big money players and hasn't really threatened in the CL for ages.

I dunno, they are business people after all, they are going to want a return on their significant investment. How long will they wait ?

Probably heavily subsidised by the Emirates government. Their airline does sponsor us. I doubt it's a normal "warm weather training session". It's all PR and advancing the brand.

of course, I would expect the club has certain obligations to their primary sponsor

Greatest league title finish win in English, nay world football history.
To date, our last European trophy.
First ever English domestic cup double.
Beat the then dominant and mighty Liverpool to win our first ever league cup, especially when Rush scored, they never lost. until that day.

At that point, the most successful Arsenal manager ever, until Wenger.

Not better than Arteta in a million years.
