We were top of the league for 90% of games in 22/23 but didn't win the league.
A crappy win alone doesn't mean shit. Neither would it if we beat Ipswich 5-0 tonight. It's way too limited to say it means anything.

But so what??

The problem has been there all season, ineffective attack, not creating enough. When you see Liverpool flying and we are struggling to beat fodder you should be worried, because there is no sign that we will find or regain form. And now we have lost our most effective player to injury, things are not going to get better quickly !

So then yeah, if wed' have won 5-0, it means we will definitely win the league. Yet that could still prove meaningless at the end of the season.
we beat Sporting 5-1 away when City lost there 4-1.
Liverpool scraped past Leicester but then they were always gonna beat them.
Still a LOT of football to be played.

I think you are missing my fundamental point.

Its not like we have been playing well and have hit a temporary run of poor form, we have been largely shite all season. Thats the more worrying thing, its been there since the season started, its been the norm punctuated with brief periods of good form, not the other way round.

I dunno. Just way too limited a sample size to judge, IMHO.

Playing shit and winning only lasts so long, you cannot go through a league campaign and expect to win by playing shit and getting lucky.

So I prefer to play well, we need to fix the problems and stop hoping for our form to change, we need to be proactive

Playing sh__ football, and sitting 2nd in the league, 35 scored ,16 conceded, 2nd in the league in GD , in spite of tons of injuries and meaningless penalties ( red cards and suspensions)...
semi Finals in a Cup, almost qualified for KO rounds of CL...not exactly a scenario for a depression.
Most teams will be more than glad to be in this position.
Possibilities everywhere!

Take the handbrake off or suffer the consequence, it is there for all to see this side even with its injuries and suspensions has so much more to offer, Arteta is holding them back imo

We will put this post on the season's tombstone when we win nothing again, won f**k all but had a ton of injuries and meaningless red cards and suspensions, woe are we.

I'm not trying to hear more excuses, we didn't win the title when we didnt have injuries and meaningless red cards either.

Not worried about Spurs, they'll probably have Ryan Mason in the dugout by then :rofll:

All winnable

Bigger concern is we really haven't been able to maintain any form

If we're at our best we win all of them. Otherwise as Hothat says many banana skins.

I want to see Mikel pick and stick with a back 4 and midfield 3.

Stop playing Partey at RB. He's the key to our midfield imo. We look wide open when he's missing.

Exactly what I was thinking. Doable only if Liverpool start dropping points, lose the new manager bounce would be a good start
