Didn't he get loaned to Germany not too long ago?? I didn't see any change in him.

Decent and more or less exactly as expected.
Some of us just know.
We're in a phase of tweaking an excellent squad.

I was 7 out of 10 with Merino and Calafiori, a decent CF would've made it 9 minimum. All things considered I will go with 7 out of 10

We needed a striker for sure, I'm wondering if the options just weren't on. It feels like there's a lack of quality strikers in football these days. Toney I was never so sure about and Osimhen seemed unattainable by anyone except Saudi clubs (at least based on the reported difficulties Chelsea were having getting him). That really only left Gyokeres? I guess with the £85m we brought in we should've tried for him.

But cockroach scum dressed as fans will, same as ever.

Lol, we are back to the net spend league that Wenger used to top.

5/10

Strengthened the defense with Calafiori and Timber, who is like a new signing. Midfield traded depth for a higher quality starter but I'm personally not convinced by Merino yet. Plus, he's injured til October so who knows what impact he'll truly make this season. In attack, we've merely swapped Reiss Nelson for old ass Raheem Sterling which I guess is technically an upgrade.

We finally sold a few players for real money but in hindsight, I wish we'd kept Emile Smith Rowe as an extra piece to the attack. In my opinion, we didn't do enough to push the team further along in the project but instead punted key signings (young star midfielder and striker) to next summer. Personally, I would not have done that.

I'd take Sterling all the time

Fookin-ada!!

I cannot believe we bought this has-been !! I can only assume Arteta knows some shit about Sterling that nobody else knows.

On his day he is a terrific player, but that was peak Sterling, are we getting anything close to that?

Anyway, whinge over, he is better than what we had on the bench for the most part anyway, time to look at the positives, the good things he will bring, pace, trickiness, and hopefully some significant goals and assists.

Yeah it's a complete unknown IMO. His Chelsea form is irrelevant in my eyes since almost everyone who goes there seems to tank. So there's two years of no information. Let's hope the same player is still on there.

We aren't signing WC players, so this argument about "quality strikers" is moot. Where was this talk when we were signing the likes the Viera, Jorginho, Zinchenko, none of whom were starting quality? We still need them to get minutes in 50-75% of our games.

We need somebody to get in on the end of crosses and cutbacks, simple as. Havertz is doing OK but we need cover for him. Eddie wasn't up to the job, so we go for whoever is available and willing.

I can't help but feel extremely underwhelmed by the business we've done this summer. After all, this transfer window was supposed to give us the last push to finally turn us from contenders to winners, and it seems to have fallen well short of that. Not only have we not strengthened the starting eleven much at all, but the squad is arguably even narrower this season.

All in all, the transfer window doesn't fill me with much optimism for the season. We're going to have to squeeze even more juice out of a lemon that has been squeezed a lot already, and I don't believe this is a winning strategy.

Yup

I said it before, to be this close to winning the league title I expected us to go out and do what was necessary to get what we needed. All it feels like we have done is the bare minimum, just about enough. Is this going to be another season of so close but yet so far?!

deluded fans calling it a 7 or 8/10 window.

There is a bad vibe in our fanbase. Reflected by AFTV and related media. it's about middling it, irrational banter towards other clubs, and not seeing the forest for the trees.
