Saka was 17 when Emery gave him his debut. He had a couple of good run outs in the Europa League. The following season he got plenty of game time from Emery before he was sacked!

Martinelli got plenty of playing time from Emery in his first season, aged 18. He was injured for the start of his second season and then benched by Arteta when he came back from injury. Not sure you can spin this into Arteta doing more for them than Emery.

Literally the only academy players Arteta gave debuts and game time to prior to This season was ESR and Balogun.

Jay spitting nonsense again ?

This hasn't changed ....

You don't need to be a mathematician either to rubbish his nonsense around debuts either.

Klopp is obviously static but ETH and Pep have already given +5 debuts each to youth players this season. I think ETH may actually be close to 10.

Arteta:

Pep:
- Harwood-Bellis

- McAtee

ETH:
- Mainoo
- Kambwala
- Forson

Klopp:
- Williams
- Gordon
- Bradley
- Morton
- Clark
- Bajcetic
- Doak
- Quansah
- McConnell

Horrific reading

Haha - those goal posts keep shifting.
When ours get to 5 games, the new rule will be 10 games. :dontknow:

Arteta has given 12 debuts more than Pep, Klopp and ETH, by your numbers.
So what , we have to wait a few weeks/months before they played 5 games?

It is not debuts that matter, it is the ability to to develop them( the debuts) into careers that matter.
Hopefully these kids , Nwaneri, Skelly will get to the next stage and have successful careers.

Also Saliba…
“He said hello to me the first day,” Saliba recalled. “And then after he didn’t speak with me.

Find another player.

I agree.
Debuts was the old criticism before Arteta became the number 1 of all the current top managers for giving debuts to academy players.
Goal posts have shifted to development over time now.
Given that, we can add Saka, Saliba, and Martinelli to the list

Its both, how can it be anything but both?!!

You can't get game time if you don't get a debut! Thats why players have left in droves - citing that very reason.

Four academy lads in that game. ESR, Nelson and Iwobi for Fulham and Willock for Newcastle. The link up for the goal between ESR and Iwobi was magic. Pure Wengerball.

It is both and Arsenal under Arteta is THE club to be at for a youngster.
Not just chances to get that debut, but development opportunities to become a starter at a huge club.

Did you even read ?

The below is youth players from debut to +5 games

Debuts you can add many more for all of the below

Ten Haag has given debuts to more than 10 youth players already this season

Pep must be 5+ too

Numbers dont lie

Arteta is yet to develop a single player from academy to first team regular ?
