LONDON (AFX) - ITV PLC, the UK's biggest commercial television broadcaster, is in talks with US sports tycoon Stan Kroenke over the sale of its 9.9 pct stake in Premiership football club Arsenal, the Sunday Times reported without citing sources.

The report comes amid persistent speculation of a possible takeover bid for Arsenal, pushing the club's shares higher.

According to the Sunday Times, ITV built up its stake in Arsenal during the late 1990s, but is now looking to sell.

Kroenke is the owner of the Colorado Rapids football team in the US. Last month, the Rapids announced a marketing partnership with Arsenal.

ITV could not immediately be reached for comment.

I hope this is not the begining of what could be a possible take over, Danny Fitzsman has just recently sold 659 shares worth £3.9M after a huge increase in the share price according to:

I dont know if im reading too much into this but it seems highly coincidental that the owner of the Rapids who we have struck a marketing deal with, wants to buy these shares.
