How was last summer bad?

Not sure if serious

But not getting what we need which in turn costs us top 4 would suggest it wasn't good.

Look at last summer's transfer window thread vote. Majority thought it was bad.

This one we've bought unknowns and a Brazilian welbeck.

We will go into the season having not really strengthened a single starting 11 position. If anything you could make an argument that at his best Auba is better than Jesus.

Worrying when United, Chelsea and Spurs are all signing players to strengthen their starting 11s and we're bolstering our bench...

alexafc12 wrote:We've done nothing yet. Fantastic start but all we've done is replaced outgoings and signed backups.

Now it's time to strengthen the starting 11.

2021:
Ramsdale

Tomiyasu -- White -- Gabriel -- Tierney

Partey -- Xhaka

Odegaard

Saka -- Auba -- Martinelli

2022:
Ramsdale

Tomiyasu -- White -- Gabriel -- Tierney

Partey -- Xhaka

Odegaard

Saka -- Jesus -- Martinelli

Its not even a comparison ! At his best Auba IS world class. Jesus has never been world class, thats not to say that he can't get there but we haven't seen it yet.

Was it a prime, focused and in from Auba though?

It doesn't matter. The fact is the only change we've made to our starting 11 is Jesus for Auba.

Other teams are strengthening their starting 11s massively and so far we've signed bench options.

Still time but all the hype has been for nothing so far

This low key trolling is getting very tiresome.

You obviously don't come here for discussion, just to purely find angles to WUM, its literally in every post you make.

Every post is some snarkey put down, come back or exaggeration.

I made a post about him coming here and got a load of people saying that he only chose us cause no-one else was interested. I proved you all wrong and once again get labelled a troll for stating facts.

Do you have some sort of fetish for trolls? It's all you ever talk about.

No one else was seriously interested in Jesus, Real want Mbappe and Jesus just isn’t in the same class or the profile of player they want, Chelsea want Sterling (hence their offer and Spurs want Richarlson.

We were the only ones seriously interested and he only came because he’d be playing regularly and we gave him big money.

It went from 'no-one was interested' to 'no-one was seriously interested'

Lmao

I don't think it was bad, but there were a lot of questionable buys.

Could we have stuck with Saliba and Martinez and saved £80mill ?

Keep Guendouzi over Sambi and that's close to £100m.

Martinez

Tomiyasu -- Saliba -- Gabriel -- Tierney

Partey -- Guendouzi -- Odegaard

Saka -- Auba -- Martinelli

Given £100m across Ramsdale / White and Sambi I don't think we strengthened the starting 11 much.

Could have been much smarter.

Ok then no one else was interested in Jesus that’s why we got him, they all had other players they wanted.

Tick tock. Preseason is about to start and we have yet to address the most important position
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)

Go for Scamacca or Richarlison. Someone with fortitude and flair.

We will need to cross low and along the ground because not one of that front line is winning any aerial duels

When we had in-form Auba he was world class, the comment above said that an argument can be made that Auba in form was better than Jesus. I'm saying, its not a debate or argument, Jesus has NEVER been world class, so its a one horse race.

Well it wasn't as great as people make out. Of the 5 main signings, 3 were a hit - but one is injury prone, plus 2 flops in Lokonga and Tavares.

This is EXACTLY what many folk were saying last season !!! We bought players we didn't need to buy. We spent how much on the back 5 and conceded more goals than the previous season LOL.

Never really been a fan of Richarlison, he is the type of player that will miss umpteen sitters but score the most difficult of chances. Baffling player really, has plenty of good but too much bad for me to want us to make an investment in him

Strikes me as a 1 goal in 3 games striker, we need better.

What facts?

He's chosen us because we offered the highest wages probably by almost double, so they had a point, he would of had suitors but none who would be interested in offering him £220k pw.
