OFFICIAL: Turner completes move to Nottingham Forest

Postby Ach » Thu Jan 20, 2022 9:07 pm

Arsenal have submitted a bid for New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner - according to ESPN.

The offer is reportedly in the region of £6 million, with the Gunners eager to bring in the 27-year-old as a long-term replacement for Bernd Leno.

Arsenal are expecting Leno to leave before his contract expiry date in 2023 as he is now second choice behind Aaron Ramsdale, with Turner set to take that spot if a final deal can be agreed with New England.

Classic! Desperate for a new signing to see us in to the CL next season. We make our first move a new GK
Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

Always nice to see an American go to a big club in Europe, and American GKs are usually good value. For our NT, I'd rather he went somewhere he'll get regular PT, but oh well.

Arguably the best GK in the MLS (along with Andre Blake). Turner is a fantastic shot stopper and vocal leader, but he's not so fantastic at playing out from the back.

Seems odd to sign a backup goalkeeper whose profile is so different from your first goalkeeper that it almost forces you to alter your style of play in order to avoid trouble.

Remember when we asked Cech to play out from the back? Yikes.

Sell Leno for £10m and bring this pubber in for £5m on lower wages. Not bad.

At the minimum he needs to be good with his feet so if he can't pass then no

We don't need a top class keeper anyway, just someone half decent and someone that isn't Runarsson.

Keller was good too.

As an American I can say I’ve watched him plenty of times. Good shot stopper. Like previous comments, we’ll see about him playing it out from the back. Either way, excited if this happens. Also, tonight the US play in a WCQ and he’s probably starting for anyone who interested!

Why even waste the money when we haven't shifted Leno?

We need to buy a CM ffs

Clean sheet last night in WCQ. Not really tested tho Vs El Salvador. Biggest test is Sunday in Canada. Should be a good match.
