Ramsey and Wilshere on short loans? Any takers? Why not if they are fit and available.

Both better than Xhaka. Why not sign them as back up and see how they are. If we get a quality CM just don't play them and let them leave.

We really need a striker ASAP as well

They are done.

You have a serious problem with letting go, move on, its about the future not the old and worn out.

Depressing more than desperate. 4 days till the Spurs game. Any player coming in is not going to be ready.
Can you imagine if Lakonga gets covid!
Even if he doesn't; it's unlikely that Xhaka will be back, so we're going to be woefully short in that game. Away to Spurs is not a game where our midfield can get over run.

Might have to see a White and Chambers in midfield ting against spurs the way things are going. Dear God.

Poor planning. We don’t have injuries in midfield and we knew who was going to afcon months in advance. I never understood why we signed Lokonga when we had plenty of talented kids in the academy but only two senior midfielders of which one is a clown. Same logic with strikers. We made clear to Laca and Nketiah they were not needed and then fell out with the only senior striker. Oh well.

So, how many have the dynamic duo signed then?

We've signed the same amount as Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham, West Ham, Leicester, Palace, Southampton, Burnley and Norwich.

Yeah, I don’t get it. It's not as if we didn't know this event was coming. I was hoping we'd try out more internal solutions up front and midfield before AFCON started.

If we don't get at least a couple of decent players in we might blow our top 4 challenge, just like we didn't challenge for the title when Leicester won because we didn't strenghten in Jan. We never learn.

I will say it again, winter is not the time to be buying top talent. It is very rare that good players move in this window. It is only contract hold outs. Perhaps the club is exploring such options. We don’t know yet. Or maybe they are looking at loan deals like Wijnaldum. Which would be a decent stop gap solution.

The point I don’t get is with regards to Auba. We are certainly not going to get a top center forward in January. We rejected the chance to give Laca and Nketiah long term deals. So why did we alienate our one senior striker with a long term deal? Is it more important to make a point to the squad about tardiness or is it more important to have options till the end of the season? If Arteta had enough of Auba could he not have waited till the summer to boot him out?

We can make up for it if we sign Vlahovic. He was a summer target and it may be best for us to try and convince players to move in January instead of summer. Way more competition for signings during the summer and we'd be at a disadvantage if we don’t make Top 4.
