It's come back to bite us today.

Today and our toothless display against Liverpool has highlighted that we have nothing for a CF attack, none.

Personally I'd rather play a different formation, one that suits the Auba's and Laca's we have, but if Arteta is going to stick to his philosophy of 4-2-3-1 then he's essentially become a cheque book manager.

........... and that means buying the players "he" needs to play this way properly.

So fkin get on with it.

Which in this case is 100% a CF target man and we need a CM although when Xhaka and Partey are back that kind of takes care of itself, the striker situation however is an utter disgrace.

Maybe there is a longer term plan. Maybe they could have got qn average dm or cf but they are holding out for their first choice targets.

Can't think why else they would sabotage their top four chances.

We've known for ages that we'd be short on players around January and I can't beleve we're so unprepared. I've been saying we should have been looking for internal solutions and had high hopes when we started playing two up front with Laca behind the striker. We could have at least gotten an early look at Nketiah or Martinelli up front with Laca behind. We always knew Laca wasn't reliable in front of goal and especially when he's the solo act. We also knew about the midfield situation but have waited for the worst to happen instead of getting ahead of it. Hopefully, this break will give them some new ideas and we sort this out. We've had a poor run of results.

Not sure how I feel about Isak tbh. 4 league goals in 17 so far for Sociedad.

Looks very lightweight in terms of build. I'd question how he'd fare in a more physical, demanding league where he'll also get less space/time on the ball.

Let's hope he doesn't turn into another Pepe.

Given that we are going to need another striker in the summer anyway, I still think we should get Ivan Toney in now. Then go again for Vlahovic in the summer.
Toney can bully defenders and links up really well. He also would be cheap for a striker with Prem experience.

Toney and a quality CM could get us a top 4 finish
Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

Meanwhile we’ve alienated Auba because he was late. Jesus wept.

Not convinced with him, seems an awful lot of money for someone who doesn’t score that many, was also left very underwhelmed by him in the Euros.

When you have players like Haaland who score a hatful at a young age who would be available for similar money and you compare the two, you start to wonder why we’d spend that kind of money on this guy.

The goal tally for Isak this season doesn't bother me as much because it could just be a rough patch and he's still 22.

He looks like he has the skills. It's just size that may be an issue. But he is 6ft 4m, pretty quick and skillful. He might not be a pushover.

Why can't we get the Austrian striker Sabitzer ? He should be able to hold up pretty well.

Looks like he likes coming off the wing. Will he be another striker that won't stay in the box and will deviate?

At least with Vlahovic you could see he was a proper centre forward. The gist I'm getting with this guy is that he's a bit like Eddie in the sense that he's skilful and has good movement but plays better coming off the wing.

Did you watch the whole video? Around the 6 minute mark you'll the way he drops deep, wriggles past defenders and then has the speed to get forward. Worth watching the MOTD analysis as well. Hearing that he'll come looking for the ball to make something happen if things are flat is also what we need. Auba waited for service and Laca has dodgy finishing when served and not quick/fit enough to roam and still make into the box to finish.

Might as well give up the ghost on Vlahovic. We've been at it for weeks and he doesn't want to come to us.

Look at the footwork from the kid. It wouldn't be a bad signing at all.

We've alienated Auba because he was shit. The only real "non-negotiable" is that you can't be useless on the pitch, which Auba was.
