Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney/Tavares

I'm probably going to regret this, but four games together, one goal conceded (and that was when we were three nil up).

I wonder how this thread will look in ten years time!

Very young back 5 with lots of potential.
They seem to be working as a unit, but they will be tested much more as the season progresses.

It is indeed going to be interesting to see how they will look as a group in a few years time.

All look good individually in terms of their own specific strengths but it's as a unit that they will succeed or fail.

So far a good start for all of them.

 This.

Why does every "optimistic" Arsenal fan sound like they started supporting the club from 2018 onward?

I like them.

Gabriel could be WC in the next few seasons.

Ramsdale, I was doubtful but he's winning me over.

Tomi, such a breath of fresh air at RB from Bellend, physical, tireless runner, good all round player even though he struggled with the weather against Brighton (his own words).

Tierney, little disappointed that he seems to have hit his ceiling ability wise but he's relatively solid and can help offense although I don't like it when he goes mad with his crossing because they're so low conversion, I'd rather he drove into the box and laid it off to a player or plays it across the face of goal.

Saliba is expected to bench one of them. Most likely Tomiyasu or White
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)

How is Saliba going to bench a Right back?

He's also not going to bench White because Arteta won't have it, he doesn't like Saliba, that much is obvious.

if the plan going forward is to play three at the back then we could have something like Saliba, white, and Gabriel at the back with a more attacking player like Saka at RWB. There is the option that no one needs to be dropped and tomiyasu starts at rwb but its hard for me to see this happening.

WRT Arteta not liking Saliba, let’s see how Saliba develops because only a fool would not play a superstar for emotional reasons

Surely Saliba initially comes in as third choice CB in the summer? Then we just see who is on form. Like having Adams, Bould and Keown. When we signed Keown we didn't immediately drop or offload Bould.

From my perspective I don't really care the order, as long as we have good cover for the position or rotation if necessary. I don't like the idea of quality falling off a cliff when you change CBs
