The Pat Rice Appreciation Thread

Postby gzagee » Tue May 12, 2009 9:28 pm

Earlier today I read a piece on goonertalk about a rumour doing the rounds that Pat Rice might retire at the end of the season.
I've been searching for more substantial sources but, nothing in the papers.
Dunno how much one can read into it. Anyone else hear/read anything?

Would be sad da to see Pat go, but he has done the club a great service........

Awaits the calls for TA6 to become his replacement........

Remember, this is internet rumour. Apparently though, Arsenal Press Office didn't actually deny the rumour...

I have read the rumor and if it is the case i think it is v sad. Imo wenger could maybe use it as an opertunity to get a succesor to him being a manager just to so that the transition of power goes smoothly.

Is this 3 seasons with same "Rice will retire" rumour? or is it 4 now?

I've always thought it strange that Tony Adams is always referred to as "Mr Arsenal", i've always considered Pat Rice and George Armstrong far more deserving of the title........

Is there any need for him to?
Primorac has been Wenger's right hand man since they arrived at the club, i can't see what changing his official job title will do to change that?

I think it'd be more beneficial to the club for a new coach to be brought into the inner sanctum and witness how Wenger works first hand.

I actually think we could do with a change. I think he's a touch antiquated now.
Done a fabulous job but, I think we could do with someone else in that position.

I know what he has been, but he has remained largely anonymous and is very much a behind the scenes kind of guy, i think if he was fronting the club with AW like Pat does now it would have a good effect.
