Defence is sorted, midfield a Partey partner away from being sorted.

Auba and Laca off in the summer so attack likely to be sorted then.

I can see where it is going and like what has been done with the defence.

Definitely don't see them 2 staying. They don't suit Arteta's system at all. We need an Ivan Tony type (poor mans Lukaku)
Invincibility lies in the defence; the possibility of victory in the attack.

What a performance

Just like in 70/71
When we beat Blackpool and Burnley 1-0 at home
Won the double that season
Find any fan at both games moaning at the performance
I’m not
Sometimes you have to dig it out
Especially when things are not going well
We won 1-0 at Blackpool as well

How is that remotely related to modern football and where we are now, everything is completely different today?

Relates quite well.
The season before we were 12th - in a worse position than we are today - and in the 70/71 season after 6 games we had the equivalent today of 9 points (ironically the same as we'll have this season should we beat Spurs). We went on to win the title. The equivalent of 3 of those early points came from a 1-0 win over Huddersfield (and that was at home).

Money has brought a difference to modern-day football, for sure, in so much that a few teams are less likely to lose games, but then getting in the top 6 or at a stretch top 4 this year is still a good season. We don't need to win the league to show we are moving in the right direction. What is absolutely clear is that no one, not a soul, cares that in our title-winning season of 70/71 we won some games 1-0. Just like then, a win today takes all the points.

Winning 1-0 away from home, in England's top-flight league, is - and has always been - a fantastic result.

In 70-71 we won the league with 65 points, nowadays it’s takes around 90.

In those days football wasn’t as high pressure, didn’t have as much money in it and wasn’t as professional, the comparisons don’t stand up because it’s a completely different era, everything was completely different, it just doesn’t reflect modern football at all.

To me, the sack-o-meter will jump right up to 100 if we fail to beat Spurs and Burnley. Arteta has to start delivering now, and I won't tolerate any more excuses.

Still played on a green pitch with two goals and relegated teams were still relegated

Absolutely and trust me
The level of all teams in the premier league are far better than the likes of Huddersfield ( that was my first ever night game) Blackpool and Burnley
The teams were not going to all corners of the world to pick up talent
There were the odd talented local lad who invariably would stay longer at these clubs before maybe a domestic move. But we didn’t feel the need to gaze out our naval and moan about the win
We put football away till the next time Arsenal approached our radar
It would make you a crushing bore if you spent the time till the next game moaning about how you had won

It was 2 points for a win then 1 for a draw
We won 29 drew 7
94 points in today’s money
Another example of jumping to slag Arsenal with no research

To be honest it’s irrelevant so why would I research it, it’s 50 years ago, that’s half a century and thus things have changed completely.

You just spit out facts from random times and use that as a valid comparison, it’s isn’t because football has completely changed, it’s even changed completely from the late 90s.

But its all relative Starmandb. The level of good clubs has improved as has the level of poor clubs. Its the same shit, different day. I am sure relatively speaking that the Huddersfield and Blackpool you talk about are just as shit as the Sheffield United and Derby etc that were in the Prem just recently.

Yeah at TV was still watched on a rectangular box.

Things change, it’s like night and day, completely different, the two aren’t really comparable due to the huge amount of changes that have occurred over the years, from rules, to finances, to training, sports equipment etc etc

You cannot make a points adjustment and compare with current day, it doesn't work. Look at Italy, the style of football they played when they had 2 points for a win changed when they converted to 3 points for a win, so the style of football back then was completely different, that has to be taken into account. Also, the old First Division had 22 teams, the Premier League has 20 teams now.
