When the entire footballing community (bar a few rabid Arsenal fans) all agree that it was a very soft penalty, but none the less a foul and thus a penalty, all because of a piss poor defensive challenge - what are you not understanding?

Shouldn't VAR still have looked at it though? I seem to remember them giving a foul further down the pitch after a goal had been scored in VAR's early days, might be wrong though.

I fully understand.
The same official made a different decision within the space of 2 days having given the first one against Arsenal in a huge game but deciding something worse was not a foul when another team was involved.

He made a mistake in the 2nd game, that’s pretty clear, but it was outside the area anyway so it wasn’t a game changing mistake.

Still a mistake mind you, but refs are human and sometimes make mistakes.

Should it have been a red because it denied a goal scoring opportunity?

I dont think Holding plays like a rabies infested dog every week, he just choose too against spurs.

This example was not just a push in the back, Saka's foot was trodden on.
Entirely different situations - one being a foot clipped or stood on of an attacking player about to shoot vs. a player nudging a forward on a cross which happens multiple times every game without penalties given.

It was a nudge in the back not seen as a foul even by the same official who 2 days earlier had given a penalty for less.
It confirmed Tierney was cheating was against Arsenal.

Surely this should also be a pen? This is the problem with Son's penatly. Its soft. And yes by the letter of the law, its a pen. But then there should be at least 20-30 pens per game and defo on every single corner.

They need to either give it all the time, or not give it at all.

It cant just be for certain teams when that team needs to win for the entertainmeny value of a closer run in

And anysay speaking of questionable ref decisions, what about spurs penalty today vs Burnley to get them the win?

Oh and im currently watching west ham v city and city had a stonewall pen in the first half denied, even with a VAR check
