We were third from bottom last season, but 5th from top so far this season on decisions overturned by VAR.

Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the opponent’s path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player.
A player may shield the ball by taking a position between an opponent and the ball if the ball is within playing distance and the opponent is not held off with the arms or body. If the ball is within playing distance, the player may be fairly charged by an opponent.

Thankfully yesterday's dominant performance meant that we still won the game, in spite of the highly dubious officiating that went on. Last season we probably would have dropped points.

It's a real issue in this country. Our officials just aren't up to standard. These are paid and trained officials at the top of their profession and yet game after game they are making horrible decisions. It's inexcusable and needs addressing.
I said a few years ago. VAR will expose the incompetence of officiating in this country. It's not a lack of technology. It's a lack of competence across the profession.
How - with the opportunity to rewatch incidents - are we still in a position where week after week there is a incorrect decision that effects the outcome of a game.
Premier League has the best players. We need to now match that with level of officials - shouldn't matter where they are from. This is a global league.
