The Percentage Behind the Manager Thread

Postby Arsenal Tone » Fri Aug 13, 2021 11:21 am

There is a lot of arguing and labelling ourselves and others as manager 'in' or 'out'. This stemmed from the Wenger days and UFGN's famous thread.

But I don't believe anyone is 100% behind any manager (even myself and George Graham or 0% as UFGN appeared with wanting Wenger out).

The aim of the thread is to show that nobody's faith or lack of faith in the manager is 100% or 0 % and to show how our opinions change over time.

In this thread simply post a percentage showing where you currently are behind the manager 100% would be he's perfect and 0% would be he needs to be sacked immediately.

Then post a couple of lines explaining any changes.

No essays in here please, save that for the manager's own thread.

30%

Was happy with the offloading done in January. Not happy with this transfer window, spent big money but not on the GK, RB or CM we needed. Was about 40% until Xhaka and Bellerin were said to be staying.

0%

Didn't want him before he got the job. 18 months on and no improvement means it stays at 0.

Did go up after the cup win and thought maybe just maybe we can have a good season espy as he had basically 2 pre seasons to get it right. He didn't.

Horror season has made it go down to 0. No confidence in him at all to change it

Hope I'm wrong

20% he's done some good things, but overall I think he's been poor. I can't forgive the FA cup game against Southampton, or the lacklustre performance and bad team selection over the two legs of the EL semi.

25%.

He’s been pretty lackluster as far as I’m concerned. I feel like he had a monumental task in rebuilding the club but he’s been too slow about it. Players like Xhaka and Bellerin should have been shipped out no matter the price. Signing Willian also a huge mistake. Game day tactics and squad selection leave a lot to be desired. These next few months are make or break for him.

60%.
All based on our run of form from Christmas to the end of the season. Before then it would have been less than 25%.
It's a cautious 60%, though.
Any sign that the team is going to go into a run similar to last year late Oct to Christmas and it's going to plummet.

50%. The guy needs to grow some balls and play more attacking football, especially against the lower teams. We are Arsenal FFS.

He needs to find a way of connecting with the players and to make it a fun place to play. I think the players have had enough of his authoritarian crap. We needed a new mentality because everyone knows we are too soft, but you need to do it the right way. I.e. Klopp.

I'm with him just, but he has 3 months to get this club moving in the right direction for me. No more excuses!

0% the guy is rubbish, can’t wait for him to leave.

Play is awful, tactics are awful, results are pretty awful, league position is awful, man management is awful even identifying transfers is awful.

As for his favouritism for certain players, that’s awful too.

Worst manager I’ve ever seen at Arsenal by a long stretch.

50% - I have no clue what to think about Arteta, to be honest. I don't want him to be sacked, but I feel no optimism either. Just waiting to see how this season pans out.

20%

I do not see enough positives coming from Arteta to warrant a higher percentage, the issues and negatives far outweigh them. The only thing I can say I am confident of with Arteta is our performances against the top 6 teams, we are more competitive. But I can temper that by sayibg ... thats what happens when you defend and don't attack much.
