But now that we're actually doing better suddenly the expectations have changed completely and those that dislike Arteta are saying that anything less than 4th is a sackable offense, even though it was looking like a pipe dream back in August.

With that being said, my mid season predictions:
- Before the end of the season, we'll have at least one more meltdown period on this forum after a bad run of results. With Partey leaving for AFCON and some tough away games awaiting us, that period might be coming very soon.
- We'll miss out on top 4, with Arteta haters calling for his head but everyone else feeling a sense of positivity over the progress made compared to last season.

In bold - Exactly. Noticed the same. Shifting sands.

I think your predictions may well turn out to be accurate.

As the bold bit may refer to me (i.e. I still don’t fully support Arteta), I will have you know my prediction is coming along nicely. No shifting sands here

Don't make predictions but have a feeling ( based on current performances) we are at par if not slightly better of than rivals ManU and Spuds ; and even Chelsea is close by. 'pool is little further away and MC is the team we've to chase.
Think if we try hard and w/ a bit of luck w/ injuries and rub of the green w/close decisions, we can achieve 3rd.

Yeah we have no chance under this manager. We'll probably finish 18th.

(Meanwhile we get to 4th December)

Yeah anything less than top four this season is unacceptable.

- If we sign a good player it will be by accident
- If we sign a bad player it will be down to Arteta
- If players that are out on loan perform well it will mean Arteta is a c*** for sending them out on loan
- If players that are out on loan perform poorly it will mean Areta is a c*** for sending them out on loan
- If we have a succeessful season it will be despite Arteta
- If we have a poor season it will be because of Arteta
- People will post the same moaning drivel on a daily basis, ad-nauseum

You need to make some more predictions mate, these are all done.

There are some here literally poised with fingers over the keyboard waiting for any reason to start spitting bile a the club. We'll have another meltdown too - at least one more before the end of the season. It's actually as entertaining as it is predictable now.

Not everyone is happy with the club settling for mediocrity.

Yeah, It's much easier to just want unrealistic things and act surprised when they don't come true. As long as you're negative and shitting on the club you can pretend you're smart and above everyone else.

What I want is to let Arteta build up this new generation into a side that can bring us back regular CL football and eventually challenge for the title. As long as he's making progress (top 6 is better than top 8) there is no reason to derail his project.

What you want is for the club to be reactionary like the fans, sack Arteta and waste 70 mil on some striker who doesn't even fit us, then cry when he ends up being deadwood like Pepe.

Suddenly the club is back in turmoil, we're back to midtable and you have to get rid of the entire coaching staff + disillusioned players, and the new manager has an entirely different philosophy and player type in mind so you're starting back from scratch. There's absolutely zero sense of direction, everyone is out of confidence, and we end up sliding even further.

We have the youngest squad in the league and ever since Auba has been dropped we've been the better side in almost every single game. The results have been shit but the team is filled with test tube babies and we lack a natural finisher. Get over yourself and your need for instant gratification and let's see where this project goes.

We'll start a game with Xhaka and Holding at CB at some point this season due to injuries and/or suspension.
