If they did have a better season than us then why did it take so long for the Ratcliffe to offer Ten Hag a new contract? The new owners were talking to the likes of Tuchel etc behind Ten Hag’s back while he sat there like a lost puppy sweating not knowing if he was going to be offered a new contract. It took about 5 weeks of Ratcliffe and his team reaching out to different managers who refused to accept the job. Then they stuck with Ten Hag out of nonchalance.

Ratcliffe did not seem to think that Man United had had a better season than Arsenal with the actions he took before sticking with Ten Hag.
Isn’t it?

They won a major trophy. They objectively and as a matter of record, had a better season than us. Absolutely nobody gives a shit who finished second in the league.

I would rather have had our season that Man Utds last year - by a massive margin.
2nd in the PL is a far bigger achievement than winning the FA cup and finishing outside CL places - especially when we spent the whole season in the thick of a title challenge.

I don't agree. This park the bus style won't be permanent. I doubt we've forgotten to play that way after we did for most of last season.

Possession was more even yesterday than I expected

We are obviously in a much better position than Utd, however people are right, it’s only trophies that are remembered.

Let’s hope we win something this season, the team is ready now.

You may win an FA or a Carabo or even a EU, but if you totter in the league, you're be history. Ten Hag has to win the next couple to save his job. Hitting 12th brings him at the edge....like happen to Unai.

But Ten Hag won a domestic cup last season. That’s what matters, football is about winning trophies. So it does not matter where he finishes in the league, as long as he wins another domestic cup he is okay,

That’s the kind of talk that many on here treated us to at the end of last season. How Man United had a better season than Arsenal due to Ten Hag winning the FA cup but finished 8th in the league.

Now let’s see if their claim holds up for Ten Hag with where he has Man United right now. He has Man United seating 13 in the league on 7 points.

Just listening to what the former Man United players and the Man United fans are saying right now you might be led to believe that Ten Hag did not have a better season than Arteta. He won them the holy grail (FA cup) last season.

Exactly right he has been underperforming the cup got hi. A stay of execution, that will be coming in the next few weeks.
Sir red nose won a league cup that was touted to have saved his job so it's how utd have run in the past.
.Arsenal and Utd are run very differently while Arsenal are bringing in that big TV check for CL Arteta will be safe AW 4th place trophy is what it is Tom Cruise said it the best

Not the "did United have a better season than Arsenal" topic again.

Trophy better than no trophy.

But also, i'm interested in competing on all 3 fronts. I don't want to be a mid table club looking to have a good run in the FA Cup. That's just depressing, and you can see it on Man Utd players faces, they look depressed.

35% possession. he's turning into prime Mourinho.

Keep it solid, take our opportunities up top.

Only 35%, seemed far more even to me than that. They only really put us under pressure when they brought on the CF and Fabian Ruiz

Does anyone really give a f**k about looking back on what we did in the past, though, beyond some fond lookbacks and some bragging rights?
Case in point - people say we're shit in the cups, but how come when we can 'remember' how good we've been in winning more FA Cups than anyone else?

What lies ahead is more interesting to me - and given we were far better than Utd last season, I can be happier than any Utd fan.
Bet you there is not a single Arsenal or Utd fan who would trade places in terms of the state of each club/team at this time.

They didn’t threaten much, they reminded me of a wenger team against a prime Maureen side.

It’s nice to be the physical team , instead of being bullied for all them years.

We are never a Maureen team , we are a more adaptable team than before. Goal is to play attractive football, which, we've proven, we can do with ease, but now we can also opt for different strategies depending upon the opposition and circumstances ( like injuries to key players).
Big shift from Wenger era, when pretty football trumped all. We fielded kids against a hardened ManU side , played an open game, got walloped 8-2. Those days are gone.

When Monaco beat us 3-1 years back in round 16 we had 54% possession, I don’t know about you but winning is much more fun than having more possession right :dontknow:

Chelsea won their first Champions league having far less position than Barcelona and Bayern, if it’s what it takes to finally get us our first champions league who cares

Doing a great job this year.

The team is immense from defence to midfield.......we just need to get the attack to click and it may do very soon, Kai is improving, Trossard is contributing.

It's just that's a low percentage level, and uncharacteristic since we tend to dominate possession as a fotballing side.
