Had a terrible season, but IMO Arteta completely changed his game by making him chase back.

He use to be a player who got into the box and would score some cracking goals in there, his new role meant he did none of that.

He didn’t score goals at Lyon or for us by chasing back all the time.

Did what was needed, far better than Giroud who was a complete donkey for 5 years.

About time we had a quality striker again who can actually play football and score goals. Biggest signing of our window, just dont see an obvious target.

Not making excuses for Laca he was a huge disappointment - but in 2021/22 he had a shooting accuracy of 33% (that's higher than Salah) he only missed 6 Big Chances (Kane missed 18) the problem was either he wasn't getting in the right positions or as a team we simply don't create very much ... take your pick.

Personally would have preferred Giroud in this system. Not sure if he had the legs to chase around much, but the wingers and Odegaard would have found themselves further up with pitch with better link up play.

Sure. With one good reason.
We cross a lot of balls.

Crosses aside, his hold up play and passing in tighter areas was far better than the strikers we have. The wingers and our #10 would have been in the danger areas themselves rather than just throwing crosses into a taller guy. They would have been more of a goal threat.

Yeah. Actually he plays a bit like Lacazette. Worse pace, but way better aerial dominance. We score the most goals from corners with almost no contribution from Aubameyang and Lacazette. Imagine if we have Giroud instead.
Anyway, we tend to have the wrong players at the wrong time. Lol.

We've had 2 full seasons of this and still haven't figured out a solution.

Way too often, wingers enter dangerous areas but end up crossing to nobody. Either players are being instructed to stay back (Odegaard, Partey), or the striker is out of sync with the wingers and failing to show up in the box when a chance arrives.

Alexandre Lacazette is closing in on a free transfer move back to former club Lyon when his Arsenal contract expires next month, reports Todofichajes.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has a close relationship with the 30-year-old and was instrumental in sealing the deal.

The French striker had offers from England and Spain but jumped at the opportunity to return to his hometown club.

......... It wasn't Laca who won the Golden boot and had back to back seasons as Prem top scorer, that was the guy who was lighting up La Liga at Barca.

His biggest contribution this season was proving that Arteta cares more about obedience than performance.

Had Eddie been introduced into starting XI earlier, he'd have bagged the handful of goals needed for Top 4. Instead we had Laca labouring across the pitch for 90 mins doing nothing. €180k PW well spent
