It's worrying that we're offering him a contract though. It was the same with Mustafi apparently.

No idea what the club are thinking.

Academy player contracts are cheap. A new deal for Eddie is lower risk than a brand new unproven £10m striker.

He's only just turned 22.
I can understand why we'd want to keep him.. His goal record in the PL is a goal every 225 minutes - and that is with a lot of short substitute stints. That level is a 15 goal a season striker at just past 21 and is better than Auba's rate over the last 2 seasons in the PL.

It's unfortunate but it looks like any development into something more than a 15 goal striker is going to be with another club on a free transfer.

Thank god.

He's never going to be starting quality.

The one thing you can't skimp on is a striker.

Is that true?
Good news if so.... is there a recent example where we know the fee that was the result of the arbitration?

Ok, reading through we're probably talking somewhere between £2-3m in my estimation given the other examples discussed.

This numpty turned down what would have been a great opportunity to start for Palace (and learn from an Arsenal great).

Perhaps CP couldn't afford to match his current Arsenal wages, but Benteke would probably the easiest striker to replace in the PL.

If he goes to Germany or France I feel like he'll disappear.

I cannot believe he got minutes yesterday, AFTER refusing to extend. Meanwhile £72m Pepe is twiddling his thumbs on the bench at £140k/wk.

I don't think you need to play people who are on big wages and cost a lot.
Pepe was a massive mistake.
Let's not pretend he is a top footballer.
I was also surprised to see Nketiah come on - but actually at least he held the ball well and brought others in in the final section of the game. We had none of that before.

I do agree though it's stupid to give this guy game time if he is leaving. Use Pepe or even Balogun who you got to extend (think he couldn't play cos of U23?).

Stunk a bit of 'he's moaned this week, let's give him some game time and try to convince him to stay'. Just cut the loss, yes more wasted money but we can't keep Eddie and Balogun, we've made our choice to the former needs to go.

His impression of Aubameyang is not going to do much for his price.
At this rate arbitration will ask us to pay the club he is going to.

Tbf that is one of the worst misses I have ever seen. But He also creates the final chance of the game with a great run and if Auba scores then another decision. Think he created another chance for Ode before that tbf.
