Playing better today, but still need a quality CM. There's an air of uncertainty in his play.

We need more creativity in the middle, Odegaard isn't good enough really so don't get why we signed him but we need a CM who can move the f***ing ball forwards and not shit himself getting closed down.

Give me 34 year old Fabregas at this point or Cazorla back, f***ing hell.

Then I guess Partey shouldn't have been signed because he's not a DM (at least, not a natural one). He wasn't at Atleti, and as we've seen countless times, he's not one here. He's a B2B who can play in a double pivot or with an actual DM behind him. Hell, he plays as Ghana's attacking threat from midfield because they don't have anyone else.

Unless Lokonga can turn into a good partner for a double pivot, I'd like for the club to bring in an actual 6 during the winter window since idk when Xhaka will be back.

Anyway, I honestly don't know what Partey's problem has been. He was pretty press resistant and could launch attacks at Atleti.

THIS!!! Replac the dimiwtted slow footed Xhaka

Played well yesterday and glad that he got his first goal, was unlucky just before that when he hit the bar as well. Have to say though the goalkeeping from Martinez for his goal was very suspect.

Glad he got the goal, was a shame it wasn’t a distance screamer but at least should relax him a bit.

He moved the ball quicker yesterday, instead of holding it too long. That's the key for him I think. Helped by Lakonga. They worked well together.

No ones mentioned him today but he was great and made sure Ramsdales save wasn't wasted with that off the line clearance.

Looks happy in this 4-4-2, picks it up and carrys the ball nicely, dominates midfield.

Partey don't forget spent years playing in Atletico's 4-4-2 so he knows this style of play probably more than any other.

Getting worried about this guy.
He's not young.. he should be leading the young players but he's not a dominant player at all.

Unfortunately very underwhelming. This fellow isn't able to distribute properly, beat the press and get the ball out of the defense or tackle when necessary.
But, inspite of the fact that both he and Willian are Arteta/Edu buys, must say was excited when both the arrivals were announced. That either didn't pan out ( Patry, so far) is beyond me. Both have gotten ample opportunity and freedom to prove themselves but didn't deliver.
The arguments that Arteta is naive and has no idea how to use them doesn't apply to either. They were both experienced and so called capable players supposedly at the top of their respective careers and brought in to drive the team forward. If important players, thought to be the fulcrum of the team, don't deliver in crunch games, like we have been seeing since Ozil ( under late stage Wenger, Unai and Arte), then you are in trouble. That's why we are 22-4 at Anfield , and haven't won there since '13(?).
This is a conundrum any Arsenal manager have to solve, otherwise we remain an also ran outfit.

He's a good player but was overwhelmed today, had a few good moments but is always going to struggle against a high tempo experienced Liverpool midfield when he's partnered by a 21 year old learning his trade, also it may have helped to play 3 in the middle but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I like Partey, he's a good player.

But he has Lokonga, a youth next to him who should never be 1st choice.

Partey & Bissouma or something similar is what we need as a starting pair, when Partey is saddled with Lokonga against Liverpool's 3 man midfield, he's not likely to shine, not his fault.

Overwhelmed yesterday as was Lokonga.
It was a tactical error starting with 2 forwards.
Midfield needed more help.
